30rd = Cool :roll: :D

Mag pouches are the only legit reason.

You need 7.62 pouches or German or Swiss pouches (though it looks like the swiss must be 20rd'ers?) to fit the 30 rd mags though. However the Dropzone is selling some custom ones right now:

Though I’m sure Dropzone can make 20 rd pouches if you ask.

X-man I’ve been wondering why you are selling all your firearms. It‘s all coming clear now, I guess that second shipment is almost here. :wink:

Most pouches for AR15 are okay for SIG-mags as well, for instance PLCE-mag pouches work very well.

Do they make 40rd mags for the Sigs?The 20's look to short to keep with the look of the rifle.30's our cool but 40's would be pretty nice!!

We had this thread before and as I recall it led to a silly argument about the best shooting position.

I think the five-round magazines are the best, because from a standing or kneeling position you can better support the rifle with your support hand because the magazine doesn't extend down far enough to interfere with the forearm of your support arm.

I've used this technique in Switzerland on the 300m three-positional course of fire and it definitely works better.

The only reason I can see to use any of the other magazines is because you can clip them together, which gives you more rounds to hand, which matters in Canada with the five-round magazine limit.

What I used to do in practical rifle with a SG550 was to have a 30-round magazine with two 20-rounders clipped to it (assuming you needed that much ammo, usually I only did this on stages with mandatory reloads). This was just about manageable weight wise, and having the 30-round magazine as the first magazine in the gun gives you a lever to detach and attach the group of magazines. Manipulating a block of three 20-round magazines clipped together is harder as it's more difficult to grab hold of.

nope, just 5 rd, 20 rd and 30 rd mags.

Actually there is a ten round magazine as well.

I've seen the 10 rounders, but its my understanding that they aren't commonly available in Canada...hence the "other" category in the Poll. :D
