Swiss Arms or XCR-L?

The swiss arms looks great, but the price turned me off at the time. Does not mean I still wont buy one when funds allow in the future. I love all types of guns. I do have an XCR and have not had any problems with it that were not c-Prod mag related. I have never even used loc tite just made sure all the bolts were tight. Its a great gun, mine was bought this year and is probably a newer model. I heard the earlier ones had issues though. so far so good for mine. Mag availability is maybe an issue with the SAN(dont know how widely available they are), compared to the XCR. Plus the XCR will take most AR accesories(grips,etc). Either way i still want both, and a tavor, and a m14 and etc.. they are all unique. I am a Gunnut and want them all.
I hate having to tighting anything on a rifle thats why I dont like LMT or XCR or anything like that I like my barrel and scope to STAY PUT .... On the swiss arms the IRON SIGHTS ARE A ##### if you want to add a optic ( forget the lego block of rails and scope mounts ) attach the optic straight to the rifle like on a AR I have learned that everything will eventually come loose if you use mounts and risers and such the best is a good steady set up ...with the swiss arms nothing comes loose you just have mounting issues ...I would get the swiss for sure but I would get the flat top its almost the same price and i mean #### the price you have decided to buy a good rifle that will last you the rest of your life 800 bucks do you really care about 800 bucks just buy what you want if you buy the best you will always have the best ..
redivivus...excellent post. Like jagdmorder, I want one of everything, however an AR is at the lower end of the list. My xcr runs flawless and gets abused. In fact I put it in its case may long weekend literally completely coated with wet oozing mud after being slung on my gfs back for 6 hrs while dirtbiking in the rain. It stayed in its case until the other day stewing in its juices. I still havent had a chance to clean it and it looks horrendous. The barrel looks a fair bit orange, but the screws are crusty with rust. I just might give it a black oxide treatment but probably not. 1300-1600 rounds in the rain, snow and -30's and not a single issue other than a few bob's that were due to unseated mags. It has been cleaned twice, once the day I brought it home and once 200rounds later. I was planning on seeing just how far it would go without cleaning. Heck, maybe Ill just wipe the exterior and leave it at that.

- For storage, I typically remove the slings as they get all tangled up. Each one has it's own as I use slings extensively for support while shooting.
- No use for grips and rails for me as they just add weight and throw off the natural balance of the rifle. I like to keep them as light as possible with little or no 'extras'. Have a vertical grip on the XCR as I just loved the machining on the Troy grip and bought it on an impulse!
- My rule of thumb is 8 quality mags for every rifle I own. Not there with the SL8 yet as the price of it's mags is bordering on ridiculous so researching other, more reasonable, sources.
- I primarily, and almost exclusively, shoot with iron sights but have a few optics that get rotated out on the rifles as necessary - an Aimpoint red dot for < 300m; an ACOG for 50 to 600m; and a Vortex 1-4x24 as an 'all in one' solution (works well, too bulky IMHO). Neither gets used much, unfortunately, so they just sit in their boxes most of the time.
Ya I know, I am a disappointing modder as I am firmly entrenched in the "if it shoots well, don't mess with it" category. Thinking about giving the BAD lever a whirl on the AR tho as it seems to be a sound concept.

Why don't you get an NEA G36 mag well adapter and Swiss Arms Lower? Then all of your rifles can share the same magazine type. Selling off the Swiss and HK mags would probably put you close to the cost of the lower and the adapter.

For the love of pete, you do not have to tighten or loctite anything on an XCR out of the box. That myth is based upon an early version of the manual and rifle and is NO LONGER TRUE. I have a Revision G manual right here, and it does not recommend tightening or loctiting anything. The screws are tightened at the factory. This myth is based upon facts long since out of date.
Bought my XCR about a year agoe. Have about 1500 - 2000 rounds through it. I never tightened any bolts, or used lock tight on anything. I keep hearing about barrel retention nuts coming loose and extractor bolts falling out, but I haven't experienced anything like that.
