Swiss Arms rifles being examined for reclassification?

It is pretty obvious who CSC's biggest competition in Calgary is, just didn't want to say anything unless we know for sure. I did plan on ordering a couple new firearms from them but now I am going to direct my business to other retailers.

I can "convert" my legally driven car into a drunken death machine with 4 beers. Are we going to start confiscating cars based on this possibility?

The "conversion" is easy.

Guys relax, consider this.

The government set a precedent to compensate owners fairly with the Type 97, and that was only a hundred or so at a grand a piece. Consider that the Swiss Arms rifles have been imported for over a DECADE and are THREE TIMES the price.

You think anyone is going to authorize that kind of expenditure from the public purse for a non-problem?

They won't round them up, they could reclass them to a new 12.X making it illegal to own without upgrading your licence if you are a current owner. When you upgrade your licence they will want proof your own one (serial number) and then register it to you. Then, just as with the other prohibs, the government waits for you to die to solve the problem.

They can't create another 12.x without the government creating it for them by altering the Firearms Act. That is .......unlikely under the current government. If they get prohibbed, they're going to get collected and destroyed.

" Hello good people of Canada, we as a government have had dinner together and realized that the swiss arms rifle is a deadly baby killing beast and no god loving person needs to own one so I do apologize on behalf of the entire government party for the loss of money to those Canadians who own them but please stand up as a good Canadian and come forth and hand your rifles into the RCMP we will not judge you for your poor descision in buying one or arrest you when you come to hand them in but by golly we will find all the rest of you sinners who choose to ignore us and when we do by golly we cant be responsible for the outcome so again be a good stand up Canadian and just hand over your $3500 rifle before some poor family gets hurt" sincerely your elected official Laugh2

So let me see if I have this straight... In my absence the new (new) T97 has apparently been approved, we've got a new Canadian "AK" (emphasis) ready for market and the Swiss Arms is now on the verge of being reclassified and/or banned. And the black rifle community may or may not have been thrown under the bus by some prominent individuals or businesses. This has the potential to eclipse "shillgate"...

Aww geez, no one informed you.. what do we do now?

I am not going to look at this thread until we get 100% conformation from a credibal source. My blood pressure just can not handle this sort of thing anymore.

Guys,

This is simply rumor for now until we see written proof. There is no evidence to support a pending reclassification. Even if true, the RCMP would have to prove a legitimate reason for the move. It is not a variant of a named prohibited firearm. It is not "easily converted" to full auto. Therefore they cannot justify such a move.

Unlike other firearms that have been unilaterally reclassified such as the BD-38, Norinco Type 97A, High Standard Model 10B, the Swiss Arms family aren't "low hanging fruit". Combined, there were only a few dozen examples of the other reclassified firearms extant in Canada. With just a few dozen affected owners, the RCMP gambled on the apathy of the majority of Canadian gun owners. Sadly, it paid off for them.

That said, the attitude that unless I'm directly affected I don't care must end. We either hang together or we'll surely hang separately. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Swiss Arms owners across the country and we have zero intention of rolling over.

However, it is these types of scares and threats that should see every Canadian gun owner making it a point to donate to the NFA's Legal Defence Fund, to give them the means to take on the deep pockets of taxpayer-funded Crown attorneys and sundry RCMP lawyers without having their hands tied because of limited funds. In the USA, the NRA's average monthly legal expenditures are somewhat north of $400,000.00! If you want change you need to start opening your wallets! Imagine a team of Solomon Freidmans and Ed Burlews that are 100% devoted to defeating bad gun laws and bringing rogue gun control bureaucrats,CFOs and crusading LEOs to task at every turn.

With the end of the LGR, it is possible that the RCMP may be dusting off their "hit list" of now uncontrolled non-restricted "problem" black guns and taking aim at them, one by one. If that is the case for the Swiss Arms here, then the time has come for a full offensive against the RCMP, the Public Safety Dept., and the Harper government. Whether through malice or simple disinterest, the powers that be need to learn they cannot continue to pi$$ all over Canada's law-abiding gun owners and expect us to buy the lie its raining!

This is why I started a tread in the action center. We need to mobilize for this!!!! If they reclassified the san rifle they can comme after all our semi's

not to sound like a total #### here but......if the firearms were misclassified in the first place the party that pointed it out is not the party to blame for it all. If they never should have been allowed in then then thats the real issue...

Lots of accusations and no proof.

Looks like some of the people here would make great employees for the Toronto Star writing articles about Rob Ford.

Quote from JR at the Shooting Edge

Firstly, I understand: Haters are going to hate so, I did expect my name to be dropped into the fray sooner or later.

To confirm: There is an ongoing investigation into the entire Swiss Arms family going on with the RCMP. It is about 18 months old as witnessed by us not having our SAPR FRT number yet. That submission started a file internally inside the RCMP to have the entire family looked at, as the original FRTs were given without an actual inspection of a firearm. It is now policy that FRTs for any potentially controversial firearm be thoroughly examined by them. I would expect, given my conversations with the RCMP people, that this is not the last of the examinations we will witness in the upcoming months.

This file did take on a more time sensitive nature though in November of 2012 due to the actions of a third party.

I have spoken at length with the RCMP firearms people and have been given a very lengthy letter of questions that they would like Swiss Arms to answer to put this whole matter to bed.

I am actually traveling over to Europe next week and am going to be working with Swiss Arms to prepare the documents.

Why you may ask?

Because I have more skin in the game than ANYONE in Canada in regards to these pieces of art.

1. My company has over $50k in parts and accessories in stock

2. My company has 7 of these rifles in inventory that we have pulled and put in the back as we feel it is unethical to sell them while there is uncertainty for the buyer.

3. I personally own 8 Swiss Arms rifles in various configurations that I would dearly hate to lose.

Detractors of me and my company are quick to point fingers at me. However, over time and once the dust settles, the truth of the matter and the organizations that are the true trigger points, besides the obvious mistakes made by individuals within Swiss Arms, will vindicate me and my organization.

As to this Dlask thing brought up: I have no idea what I am being accused of and have NEVER called the RCMP on Dlask. Why would I? I sell Dlask products and have nothing but respect for Mr. Dlask.

As I am not an agent for Swiss Arms, I cannot speak for them. However, I have spoken on numerous time in the recent months with their CEO/President and he is committed to helping in anyway he can.

I will post info and updates as I can. However even at this point it will take a few months before there is anything more to add. No one, including the RCMP want to screw this up.
