Swiss Arms rifles being examined for reclassification?

So this has nothing to do with the FRT application for the SAPR 18 months ago then?

I have an RCMP email that states the current investigation is " required to resolve the issue of whether or not there was a "spurious copy" of the Swiss Arms Classic Green Rifle imported ". It makes no mention of the SAPR at all.

All political agenda conspiracy theories aside, the RCMP are enforcing the law as it was written. I know a lot of people seem to be crying foul play but please take a second to look at this from the other perspective. Seriously, I understand there is probably a certain amount of bias at the RCMP Firearms lab but I very much doubt they are sitting around going “tehehe… we’ve found another inconsequential asinine loop hole to prohibit a firearm. Good job, pats on the back for everyone.” As I think it is much more likely they are sitting there looking at what appears to be a political #### storm that only Hurricane Katrina could rival. It would appear this is bad for all the parties involved including the RCMP themselves. Think about it - “Yes, as it turns out, for the past 12 years we have classified a prohibited firearm as non-restricted and allowed it to be imported and sold as such with out properly verifying it in the first place. Yes, we are solely responsible for this. Yes, we are looking at confiscating legally acquired property.”

It would appear to me Pandora’s Box has been opened and no one would be happy if that is the case. It is the sort of thing that could cause politicians and law markers to take notice…

This email, if true and the only reason for the investigation, would put people at ease. Say someone was buying sig's on the cheap somewhere and importing them and selling them for the $3000 sticker price in canada and labeling them as swiss arms.... another bad rumour of course.

I have seen swiss rifles with different extenal appearances (lower) always wondered if it was a generation change. Maybe not?

I like your logic. I had to look up the word spurious and found the following:

1 : of illegitimate birth : bastard

2: outwardly similar or corresponding to something without having its genuine qualities : false <the spurious eminence of the pop celebrity>

3 a : of falsified or erroneously attributed origin : forged
b : of a deceitful nature or quality <spurious excuses

Please be assured that the NFA will be charging hard on this issue. We're in the process of investigating the issue and will have more to report in the coming week. What we're seeing here is the RCMP's death by a thousand cuts strategy where they target the "proverbial low-hanging" fruit...guns that are few in number, "ugly" or "scary" looking that few members of the public or even most gun owners could care less about. At least until the RCMP come knocking for their Mini-14, CZ-858, or Benelli M2. We're all in this together. I can only hope that enough fellow gun owners will have the foresight to recognize this truth and act accordingly. United we stand, divided we fall.

I sure hope that is true. It's the reason I joined 6 weeks back. However, if I can offer some objective criticism which hopefully won't be taken the wrong way, the firearms community appears to operate mostly in the defense mode, reacting to events, as opposed to a pro-active approach which would mean putting our proposals on the political table for revamping the current legislative mess? Or is the NFA doing that too?

How much $$ did the T97 crowd get? I'd rather shoot my swiss until I get some gov'ment dollars thank you very much!

Where's my stimmy money?

(just kidding of course, I still think this will blow over)

You're dreaming if you think the gov is gonna buy that Swiss from you. If its a non res gun, then it doesn't exist anyway.. Tough go for a confiscation program.

Yes politicians take notice. In spite of this being sold (along with the others on their current must ban list like the 858) your doomsday scenarios did not happen. Your laws to protect us are directed towards the wrong demographic.
Look towards your law abiding citizens and reward the virtuous with liberty instead of taking rights and privileges away from them.
The Pandora's box is they cannot admit to this.

Have they noticed beer, wine, and whiskey has killed more in Canada than guns?
