Swiss Arms Rifles

Swiss Arms rifles are susceptible to humidity, this is one advantage the AR-15 has over them because the receiver is made from aluminum. It doesn't often get humid enough in Switzerland to be a problem (or in Canada for that matter). Or Iraq, thinking about it.

I'm guessing that there aren't too many people who've used them in environments that are really humid actually (fyi, I have had one in a humid environment which why I know this is a problem).

When I saw all the testing videos there were lots of them being frozen in blocks of ice and mud, never seen one of it being used in a jungle.

Yeah carbon steel is susceptible to corrosion, even though the coatings on the Swiss Arms are pretty nice, its not rust proof so maintenance is pretty important in a humid environment.

Are you sure it was rust and not the rust colour brazing compound?
 
The FN, AK, Garand, M14 and others with steel receivers have logged plenty of jungle time and perform well in those humid environments. The AR uses aluminum to save on weight, and it needs the same if not more maintenance than the other rifles mentioned. If your rifle is rusting that is a maintenance problem.

Nah, it's just that I tried it on the SIG but it does not cowitness at all, so I took it off for both for a bit. Must admit though I like the irons-only look on flat top black rifles!
 
If you want a perfect cowitness on the Swiss Arms series you need one of these low profile rails,low Larue mount with a T1 :) Perfect!
