Swiss arms / SAN rifles FAQ

Damn expensive in my honest opinion considering all it does is allow the use of AR mags. Since AR mags cost $40 and the Dominion Defence mags cost $45, there is zero cost benifit either if your main reason for buying one is to use AR mags over the factory Sig mags which are like $100+.

When it becomes legal, could I easily unblock the stock magazine, or would I have to buy a new unblocked one?

Black Special

I bought a black special target and would like to know how to post pictures but can't figure it out. When I click the picture button it asks for a url and I just want to transfer them off a file in the computer. HELP ME!!

Black Special

Here are some pics of loads I have worked up with my Swiss: 1st is of 55gr V-max with 8208 powder @100y, 2nd is of the same load 10 shots @200y, 3rd is of 53 V-max @100y and the 4th is actually supposed to be a 5 shot @200 but 2 of the bullets missed my backer, if I had known I would have adjusted the sight before the group. I have a Leupold HAMR for an optic and so far I really like it, the 4x isn't the best for shooting groups but works well for coyotes out to any reasonable distance. The Deltapoint is zeroed @25y and works well in the daylight but I find it to bright when the sun is disappearing. So far I'm pretty happy with the rifle and would like to try some 68-69gr bullets to see how they work. With this rifle I have also found the bi-pod to be very helpful, it helped me connect twice on a coyote at around 200y. It doesn't seem to change the POI enough to worry about with the load I'm using.

This pic doesn't really need an explanation:

10 shots @200 with 55gr load (good enough for a 4x optic):

Thanks to all who gave me advice on posting the pics, but I must admit that when my wife found me on the floor in the fetal position she just did it for me. I hope to get some better pics soon, and maybe some hunting pics of me enjoying my rifle in the field.

I got a Swiss Arms Classic Green in yesterday. They're lighter than I remember when I last held one in 2004, but I'm definitely going to need to beef up on the bicep exercises. Freaking heavy front end on these guns!!

Below is my exact sight picture, my nose lightly touches the rear sling loop.

"Weiss 3" White 3. The Swiss zero on this setting at 30m with front post center of bullseye to be on for 300m shooting with a center hold on the target.

"Rot 3" Red 3. This is for shooting at 300m using a 6 O'clock hold on the target.

"Weiss 4" White 4. This is the 400m aiming mark with a center target hold.

The black insert. This screws out which allows the drum to accept the adjustable diopter unit (Irisblende) used for competition shooting. The black insert is also taken out for low light/night shooting so the tritium front post can be flipped up and easily seen through the enlarged aperture.

I must disagree with you there....

First of all, AR mags aren't just cheaper (and can be had new for less than $40), they're available everywhere. Magazine savings alone do not cover the cost of the lower, but the ease of acquiring new magazines or used must be noted.

Additionally, the NEA lower allows the use of AR stocks, which many prefer due to cosmetics or the ability to adjust length of pull or just selection in general.

Also, the benefit of using AR mags isn't just about cost... it's about getting 10 round pistol mags.

In my opinion the lower is worth it for those reasons.

Needless to say...I'm pleased with mine:D

Yeah, possible, but the AR-mags still are a piece of low-quality crap.

Being used to Swissarms quality I really do have a hard time to get used to the AR-quality now that I have an AR15.

I wouldn't want to convert my SAN-rifles to AR15-magazines at all.

Well if your talking about Astra Arms quality lol the parts are made in the Phillipines or Veitnam and then assembled in Switzerland even the mags , you cant base your opinion on that ''asian AR'' .. I have handled and shot the Astra and was not impressed at all ... Try out a LMT , Colt ,KAC or other quality US AR-15 with quality US made mags .. I would not convert my SAN to AR mags ether but quality AR mags with a anti tilt followers are hard to beat ..

Very Nice, If one day I ever own an SA I would do the same...I would go with a MAGPUL CTR stock and MOE Grip!

Well, I'm not saying that the AR isn't doing the job it's supposed to do.

I have a Sabre Defence, I wouldn't buy Astra Arms or Norinco.

What AR mag are you buying that are $40? Although I do have the LAR-15 ones, I generally prefer my Pmags. The 10 rounders aren't that great unless they are genuine RRA, the cheapo ASC ones have fitment issues and have s**tty welds. I can't speak for the NEA lower but my 556 lower works great and I can use any flavor of AR stock I want on it to boot.

I love this gun the only thing that I don't like is the thing is you have to put some tape to protect the paint on the upper resever
