Swiss arms / SAN rifles FAQ

Okay good to know, thanks.

Sorry about your luck tho Steve...its your posts/pics that really moved me along from liking this gun, to wanting one

First night out with Black Special

Fantastic, in a word!

Replaced my lemon of an XCR .223 with the flat top target. Bunch of different ammo, no failures of any kind. And Reliable Gun in Vancouver had it so well laser bore sighted with Bushnell Elite Tactical that I was two inches off bullseye at 100m in my first 3 shots.

Only issue (which is mine due to scope selection) is the removal of the top hand-guard is prevented by the closeness of the scope objective lens. Any reason I will need access under there for maintenance? I did my first cleanings without removing the gas tube.

Cheers,

S.

Make sure to clean and lube your gas tube after every shooting session - otherwise it will rust (source: own experience).
Swiss "Automatenfett" --> machine grease is ideal for the job.

Done. Everything is so well machined it's a snap to take apart and reassemble.

Here is my baby. Waiting for the B&T top rail to try it with optics.

On the picatinney rail target model, is there a rear sight? i can't find a picture with it up. if there is can someone please post a pic.
assuming there is rear folding sighs what distance are they sighted in for?

Yes, it's a tiny little flip up, last ditch emergency kind of thing. I have the flat top target and I added a scope right away and never even tried it.

So would I be correct in thinking that the target version will have the lowest possible scope setup but poor backup iron sights. And the regular version will have superior iron sights but needing to buy a strip of picatinney to mount a scope, and the scope will be higher over the receiver when mounted?

The back-up sight gives a surprisingly good sight picture (better than any AK or other open iron sights), comparable to the Lee-Enfield sight.

This is correct. As on the fixed sight model the optic has to clear the the drum of the rear sight and therefore must be mounted higher.

Does anyone know what the threading on the flash hider for a 552/553 Swiss Arms CQB would be? Can't seem to be able to google a straightforward answer.

I am on the verge of ordering the Black Special target, any one who own one have shoot for groups and is it a performer... JP.

So as far as I understood, there are 3 different lengths available. Black special or classic green rifle length, then CQB carbine length, and then the smallest "compact".. Is that correct?
