SR 25 because it is a more accurate platform and that at least we can get the SR 25 in Canada .The SVD is prohibited the only alternative is the Valmet M78
Teapot -- sadly your right. In Canada, it seems as soon as a business has a non restricted semi to market - they inflate the selling price to take advantage of that fact.
I'm biased to the Mk11/M110 series of gun for a 7.62x51 platform - However I dont hunt, and even in the US I can't really think of any place I would go shooting off a range (not a lot of places in Fl to shoot beyond 100m anyway).
I really don't understand the Cdn Firearms Laws in respect to the restricting of some mil style semi-auto's and leaving others untouched, and yes I understand the whole Order In Council system, it just does not make sense to me that it stand the reasonable person test.

I know it's the wrong thread but CanAm's Norc T97? VZ 858? Pretty good value there for under $900.

Kev, it is very hard to make sense of some of the conclusions made by the big wigs. Some times things are done just to say "we've done some thing about....".
I take it case by case, because there is no rhyme or reason in most of these laws. It's bloody confusing and if not careful one can make regretful mistakes.
