Hi all,

In the new year i will be receiving my RPAL and saved up a bunch of change.

The two rifles i have narrowed down to are the Sig 550 and H&K SL8.

i wanna know what peoples experiences are with them(accuracy, reliability, availability, ease of cleaning, and known problems)

i have rented some ARs in the states and im not much of a fan of them.

i only really have space for a single rifle and i kind of only want one because im a one guy sort of guy( haah i get attached a little too easy)

any advice and information would be greatly appreciated

thanks again

Have no SIG experience but would not recommend SL8 as only black rifle. Although accurate they are expensive and not very ergonomic. Accessories are few, hard to find and expensive

I went with the SL8 for a few reasons...stock out of the box it was ~30% less money, had the potential to use 10 round mags, has more options for individual fit and IMO was a more interesting looking rifle.

No way I'll tell you it'll be better for you though...best if you could handle & fire both to see which you might prefer to invest in.

Depends on how you intend to use it. For bench shooting, I prefer the SA. For unsupported/prone shooting, I prefer the SL8. Have you looked at the Tavor? You would gain an extra 5rnds per mag using the LAR 10rnd pistol mag. The only disadvantage is gas that rises right under your nose.

I own two of the Specials, I have shot & SL8 and I'm not as fond of it as I am the SA Specials. All in all the SL8 is still a nice peice, but I prefer the SA's.

Thanks for all the advice it has been a lot of help

are there any known problems with any of the rifles?

also does any one know how much the H.E.R.A pistol grip and folding stock cost for the SL8?

is there much difference in feeding the two to get the best out of them(heavier bullets and such like that?)?

as for what im gonna do with it i just intend to take it to the range about once a month and probably get good with it in all positions( prone, standing, crouching) with a simple fixed scope and any where from 50 to 400 yards(if either one can go that far).

again thank you for all the advice hope to hear from all you soon

The Swiss Arms Classic Green Rifle can and does reach out to 600m at the Swiss Shooting Club up at Homestead Ranges. I have had my Carbine out to 200m and all I can say is that rifle is more accurate then I am.
