I was wondering if I could get some thoughts and advice, good bad or other, on choosing a Swiss army issue Sig P210 as a family heirloom.

Thoughts on any other heirloom grade non American pistols?

Something repairable in 100 years with essentially no plastics or materials that will fail.

A Swiss Sig P210 is good one. Stick to the Swiss made originals. Versions will range in price from 2.5K to 10K depending on condition and rarity of the model. The surplus P210-2 are typically the most plentiful and least expensive. All variants will shoot equally well. Some early P210-1 are particularly well finished. If you want details, search Michael Zeleny - https ://fdocuments.net/document/michael-zeleny-larvatus-prodeo-notes-on-the-sig-p210-parts-diagram .html. He knows more than any one on the topic.

Other options might include the Luger. For revolvers, Manurhin MR73 or Korth would be nice.

Is see that the Calgary Shooting Centre has a pretty comprehensive selection fyi.

Thoughts on any other heirloom grade non American pistols? Why?

Why would you ignore, or not consider some of the BEST American firearms?

Colt’s Single Action Army.
JMB’s iconic 1911, 1911A1.
Smith & Wesson’s Triple Lock.
Colt’s Python.
S&W’s model #3.

Simple answer: I have very little knowledge about all of these!

Thanks I will investigate them all! If you had to choose one what would it be? I can tell that people who know how to fix the 1911 will most likely be around in 100 years which is exactly what I was looking for, if it ever breaks that is...

Thanks for the input!

I think the 210 is one of the most beautiful pistol designs , and if function is equal to form well , I’d love to shoot one someday . While I’m partial to smaller bodied pistols , if this woman could enjoy shooting full sized more , this would be my top choice .

She will last a couple of lifetimes for sure. Excellent choice and yes, it is the best-built service pistol ever.

The P-210 is an excellent firearm but for me the Hi-Power takes the title.

Others to consider from that era: Luger & Radom.
