I picked this up online from Goble’s in ON. They had it listed for $600 and I figured that was a pretty good deal.

It came with an extra firing pin that I used to convert this to centrefire. Tried it out today with some rounds I made with the modified Lebel brass I got from a fellow CGNer. With 10grs of unique the 300gr cast bullet is about two inches high at 100 yards so maybe I’ll dial it back a bit.

Think I got a deal?

$500 to $600 is the going rate. I have a few of them. I have a couple of bolts changed to center fire so I just swap them out when I want to fire a different one. My brass is made from 348 and 8 Lebel. I use black powder in them with a Lee 44. -310 gr bullet. I have one setup with peep sites that I like to shoot.

I have picked them up for between $350 and $450 in the past. Your one seems in nice shape although. They used to sell for $45 in excellent like new condition back in the 1970-1980's.

Looks good so price is currant.
Having a second bolt converted for centre fire would up the value for me.

The Italian Vetterli is a great gun also, similar build and comes centre fire.

The double trigger Stutzen (sp) model fixes the trigger pull problem for the Swiss rifle. I imported one, with this feature, from it's home land.

I'm not sure the Italian has the same trigger option.

Depending how how you’re using it be careful with the center fire conversion on these as it takes away antique status. Rimfire antiques with a magazine is okay however once its center fire to be antique it can’t be fed by any kind of magazine. Mine has the magazine removed but I’m still weary of converting it for that reason

I think most of the guys here know this.

I been looking for one of these to play with they were extremely popular at one time even Remington and Winchester made ammo. You can get .44 magnum ballistics out of them as well with a variety of powders.
