Switch barrel rifle.???

I have most of what i want but lately this idea keeps popping up!! I want

one rifle that runs the gammat ...from deer to grizz. and more.. I just

was wondering where to start..ie bolt face and available cartridges..

I'll get the money but where to start?? burriss also makes a scopes with 4 different POI.. great idea.

this would be an ideal back-up rifle but on certain sheep hunts the ability to chang over would be great.

Any ideas.

Get a Savage long action, interchangable bolt heads, you're good from 22-250 to 458 Lott with a little careful parts switching. Or just buy one of those H&R single shots that you swap the barrels on. - dan

Switch barrel rifle

While not generally known, Remington pump rifles are pretty close to switch barrel rifles. 760's will not interchange with 7600's and vice versa, but in both series you can find lots of calibres with similar bolt faces- 243's to 35 Whelens. Lots of 270's, 280's 308's and 30/06's available at reasonable prices. Some of the other calibres are rare- 25/06, 257 Roberts, 260 Remington, 7mm/08 etc but they are out there. Grice's gun shop in PA is always making special runs in (non catalog) odd ball calibres. A 25/06 and a 35 Whelen barrel in a custom case would look quite special. I have a 760 in 308 with both rifle (22") and carbine (18.5") barrels and they interchage easily.
