Not too long ago I turned my Renegade into Dog Medicine, and a really sweet shooting Rem 783 in .223. So sweet shooting in fact I decided to put it into an MDT LSS, and at the same time score a 6.5 CM Barrel, and .473" Bolt Head. With it being difficult to get Remington parts it may be difficult to get the fiddly bits for a PGT Bolt Head. Others have suggested it may be a good idea to get another donor in 30-06 to end up with a complete Bolt Head. That has led to maybe just screwing the 6.5 CM Barrel onto that long action donor, which became maybe an older 110 Savage is the way to go. While this messy intellectual process has been running it's course I scored a nice 783 6.5 CM take off...

I've been told that a Savage Barrel will work with the Remington, but not the other way due to 0.010" difference in chamber depth, any reason that 0.010" can't be machined off so I can screw the Remington Barrel onto a Savage Action?

I have never tried to install a 110 barrel on a 783 or vice versa, but if all that is needed is facing .010" off the breech face of the barrel, that would be a very easy machining operation.

Or, if the chamber is actually .010 in deeper, you could just as easily fire form the cases you're going to use for that barrel and neck resize only.

No real need to do any machining.

When I was told this I asked why not, and we figured that it should be simple enough.

Hahaha, we discussed this too. You could still use your Sizer if you just backed it out by about 0.010" couldn't you?

If all it would take is a quick spin on a Lathe, I think maybe a Savage 110 is what I should be after.
