There's an old saying that goes something like," sh!t or get off the pot". The people I spend most of my time shooting with have heard me talk about switching to open for about a year now, yet there I am at the matches with my trusty standard gun. Time to get going on this. I do know a couple of things about shooting open. It's loud, expensive, and I prefer the C-more over the Aimpoint. Also, I would need something that has the mag release on the right side. Past that, and convincing the wife our vacation is cancelled next year to pay for it, I'm pretty much open to anything. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, as one who is getting out of Open division, I happen to know that SGFX has two really sweet STI Open guns for sale right now.....

You could also look at the Tanfoglio guns at Freedom Ventures. They have a reversable mag release.

I thought there was a reversible magazine release out their somewhere for 1911's, but it probably doesn't fit the double stacks.

There is a mag release for double stack and I'm a left hand... but I wouldn't used it....I just use my trigger finger actually fast with a little practice and sort of keep you out of trouble....not sure who you are southpaw, but you can try my gun if you want to.....I will be at the fun/steel match....

Just finished shooting an open gun at the local indoor range. Very nice condition used STI in .38 super with C-more. Going to shoot it again outside Sunday to really get a feel for it. Really looking forward to it. With a little dry fire practice I think that dot could come up real nice for me. We'll see.

Well, my STI Trubor is on the way. I decided to go new, and I think it is the right choice. Now if I can just catch those open guys. They always seem to be running so much faster than me. Guess I'll just have to get out the old bag of marbles.
