Although a month away some info being sent out by Switzer's. For the Enfield crowd the listings include 4 consecutively numbered Enfields. All 1950 CNo4 MKI* serial numbers 93L6285, 93L6286, 93L6287 and 93L6288 by CA formerly LB. Any thoughts on what these will go for??????

Personally I don't see additional value in having 4 in a row. $2300 for one with only a fair bore seems way high....

I've received a few emails on this topic. For the record - "These are not mine and I have no connection to Switzers". The reason I posted this was for interest. Enfields in this condition are selling on CGN around $2000 to 2400 - saw one sell yesterday - 1943 2 groove, plain clean wood by a CGN member. I expect Switzers to sell for $2500 each. Consecutive numbers are of interest to some collectors - we'll see if these bring a premium.

The math is intriguing. Four times really good = large bucks. But four in a row = ~. The question is, will the big sticker actually depress the anticipated difference?

I suspect that a buyer might split them into two pairs of consecutively numbered rifle and possibly resell one pair.

A few years ago there was a crate of unused No.4 Mk.I* Long Branch rifles for sale. A friend and I tried to each buy a consecutively numbered pair but sadly by that point in time, although there were rifles remaining in the crate, there were no sequential pairs remaining.

I don't see any listing for a Firearm Auction at Switzers Jun 14-18...Just a canoe raffle..

I suspect that these rifles are out of that batch that had gone to Belgium in the early '50s and brought back 25? years ago.

If you have registered with Switzer, you get email notices prior to the auction catalogue being posted.

Here's the results:

Lot 2196 SN 93L6285 Sold $2300.00
Lot 2197 SN 93L6286 Sold $2185.00
Lot 2198 SN 93L6287 Sold $2185.00
Lot 2199 SN 93L6288 Sold $2070.00

Add to the sold Price HST and Shipping you're looking an additional $300 to $400 per rifle.

All went to separate Buyers. Thought they would have gone in pairs.
