Switzer's Auction today

I really likes the variety of the whole auction. I had a chance to grab some harder to get parts and accessories. Must of been a part estate from a collector top notch stuff. I gave up buying guns from most auctions. Desperate people will max out their visa to get what they want. I know my limit and play within it. But I do appreciate the thought from the previous gun enthusiast and I thank them for the hoard of awesome parts that will come next week. This auction is always one to watch.

I scored a couple of lots of what appear to be 2x well-used but serviceable and rust-free HK MP5 Magazines for $180 and $155 all-in, respectively. One lot came with an MP5 Operator's Manual for the Bookshelf, and the other came with an HK Double Mag-Clamp, so worthwhile accessories there. Subtract $40 value each for the Manual and Mag-Clamp, and the 4x MP5 mags cost approximately $64 apiece. Not too bad. I also picked up a decent-looking Australian L1A1 Inch-pattern FN FAL with the distinctive Coachwood furniture, for $785 all-in. Again, about right for the going bid rate (before add-ons) of $650. I knew exactly what I was getting (ex Singapore Police Rifle) and what I was paying. I am satisfied, although I haven't been hit up with shipping costs yet! This was my likely my last chance to complete my Inch-pattern trifecta of the Canadian FN C1A1, British L1A1 SLR, and the Australian L1A1 SLR, so I was particularly motivated to win this time.

I sold two rifles today at decent prices so no complaints. Both went to a buyer in Arizona.

I won a lot yesterday at a slightly indecent price.

Saw you bid on those mp5 mags. Glad you are happy with what you got and that the manual will be appreciated (It was someone I know who got some of the other mags)

That FAL is a Singapore Police Force example - I personally love the look of their stocks even if they tend to be too short in the LOP department.

The RNWP (or RCMP) stuff always brings ridiculous prices at auction from police collectors. Also probably puts them on more watch lists nowadays.

Side note for the Ottawa area folks - I usually drive up to Switzers to pick up, want to join efforts?

Keep in mind that the hammer price is only the beginning. Then there is the buyer's premium, tax and delivery on top of that.
I only got a few items - some uncommon brass, some books, and a project grade rifle that I've been wanting to get for some time.

Was looking at the 12.3's but I have been waiting over a year for transfers for the last ones I bought.

Remember that it takes at least two to drive prices through the roof. With the computer bidding system, it doesn't matter how high your ceiling is, the bid won't get that high unless someone else is bidding. Increases are only by increments - not like a live auction where a high bid can be registered all by itself.

I hear you loud and clear on that one, which is why I no longer buy 12(3) - the bastards took all the fun out of it by insisting on an inspection for each firearm every time it changes hands. With the lab backed up the way that it always is? You will be lucky to see your firearms after another year of waiting....

FWIW, I am still waiting on a 12(5) Brit L1A1 transfer to go through from the August 2022 Ward's auction. All prohib transfers must go through the Registrar, which is just another choke-point in the process.

What would the Consignor's fee be on the the Sale? Is Swizters using the base bid or including other costs to calculate this?
