Hello everyone: I recently purchased a Rem 760 with syn. stock. I would like to install sling swivels on the gun. I realize I need a barrel ban for the front but am wondering how thick the stock is for the back. Does a person drill the suggest 5/32 hole and srcew the stud in or do you have to remove the butt and use a stud with a nut on the inside. Thanks in advance, I don't want to make any mistakes.

Be advised it will nullify your warranty. But it is easy to do, just remove the butt pad(so you can see where the drilling is going), drill up through where the most of the meat in the butt stock is, you can also add(small block/nut) with bedding compound/epoxy to the inside of the stock where the hole is drilled for super strength where the swivel stud is. You can also go with a swivel stud on the forend cap up front there. :)

I put one into the synthetic stock of my 870 and just screwed it in with epoxy on the threads. I believe that was the way the stud manufacturer suggested doing it as well.

The way Levi said it. Some other synthetic stocks will be encolsed when you removed the recoil pad or butt plate. When you drill the hole push in a bunch of epoxy, screw in your stud and position the gun to let gravity bring the epoxy around the stud and voila, solid as a rock.
