Sword hunting legality and opinion?

Ive seen several german hunting swords.. but i was under the impression that they were used to put the game out of misery after it was initially taken down with an arrow or rifle.
I know one bladesmith that used to take people on hog hunts with a bowie knife... many dogs were used to rounds the animal up ... then u would jump in and dispatch the animal.
Like playing russian roulette ! Risky

Check your appropriate hunting regulations, if there is no mention of ethical harvest and no specific weapon or caliber is required you should be able to use your weapon of choice legally. Exciting? Definitely. Good idea? About like bungee jumping off a 100 ft bridge with a 110 ft cord. If, as I suspect, your intention is to record this event and then post it on 'yoo toob' or zzzoooom, please stop now. Ethical hunters are fighting hard enough to support their sport, they don't need to be undermined by one of their own.

I must admit , this thread did bring a smile to my face . I can just imagine a bunch of people wearing camo running through the woods swinging swords ; meanwhile the deer , moose and bear sit back in their lawn chairs having a beer , and laughing . It reminds me of the great Monty Python's rabbit fight . Laugh2

start a new thing. Hunting with melee weapons. If anything it might get some dorks out in the woods and into physical fitness. not sure how bad it would be on the animal population.

Do we really need or want "dorks out in the woods"..........IMHO its probably a good idea if they just stay home and play games on the computer....

how bad it would be on the animal population?...........well it certainly isn't going to help in any way, shape or form.

I know a while back spear hunting use to be a thing until CBC got ahold of it. But what about sword hunting. People in the olden days use to do that. Why isn't that still a thing with the purists? I would feel confident if given enough time too place my tree stand correctly.

Has anyone heard of this?

Stop that stupidity... hunting regulation specificy what can be used for hunting....that post is a prime contender of most nutz. It is clear the poster know nothing about hunting..

Sorta on topic, this reminded me of my neighbor who took up bow hunting for deer a few seasons back. He came over day and gave me a Rubbermaid tote full of gear, muttering something about how frustrated he was about hunting. His uncle was with him and says "holy crap man.....you took up one of the most challenging ways to harvest a deer. Literally the next hardest method is to put a f**king kabar knife in your teeth and jump out of a tree onto a deer and slit its throat!"
