SxS and O/U Owners please read?

Be careful with used hulls, my SxS will pierce the primer on about the third snap on a fired primer and the pin sticks in the hole...there is a risk of wrenching open the gun and snapping off the pins!!!! I have found that plastic snap caps get the rims cracked off by break open shotguns and don't last long either...good quality metal snap caps are the answer, and the takedown and remove method sounds like the best way to use them in multiple guns. (my SxS with double triggers doesn't #### if you hold them back when closing...is this typical of 2 trigger guns?)

I also use the snapcaps. I have stopped using the plastic ones and just use the brass spring ones or the aluminum Azoom ones. They seem to hold up much better than the inexpensive plastic ones. I got some from Brownells, some from cabelas and before I stopped dealing with them even some wholesale.

Thanks all, , pretty much all that has been said I have figured, except the leaving it cocked, guess its much like a magazine spring. Will look into the cheaper snap caps for the older girls, if I ever get out of the sticks :( :D
What you paying for a-zoom , and where?
The A-Zoom I have I believe I picked up at P&d in Edmonton but I don't recall the cost. I also have a few snap caps I've made up for 12ga. & 10ga. shotguns. What I did is deprime an empty case and fill the primer pocket with glue from my glue gun and level it off before it sets up. If I remember correctly, that was a 'trick' I picked up from this web site. I have a few of these 'homegrown' snap caps, and they seem to work quite well.

Do you folks leave the guns cocked (hammerless) when not in use or fire on an empty chamber, used hulls,or snap caps? (if snap caps , can add up if you got a few guns)
Or is their a trick , like with bolt guns , holding the trigger when closing the bolt?
Thanks:wave:

Uhh, I'm new to o/u's, but I can de-#### de used Lanber I recently purchased. It's a double trigger. I Just hold both triggers at the same time as I close the action and voila! Is this normal/possible or is there something wrong with this gun? Could doing this dammage it? Help a guy out cause you have me FREAKIN OUT! :p
