I've happened across this old, broken, side by side 12 gauge shotgun.

I'm hoping someone can help me ID it. Its not stamped with a manufacturer, model, or serial number.

I would like to replace the stock if its possible, and also figure out if its safe to fire. I think its got Damascus barrels, but I'm not sure as I don't know a lot about old guns (or new guns for that matter, but I am learning).

I've left the pictures full resolution to show detail. Apologies to anyone still using dial-up.

The only marking on the exterior is "CHOKE" stamped on the left barrel.

There are markings stamped under the barrels and on the reciever, but I have no idea what they mean.

Nice old English back action gun, the diamond with the 12 denotes a 12 bore before 1925, crown and "BV " denote black powder second proof. the "BP" with crown is final proof .

Value depends on the maker, the condition of the gun, and the desirability of the model.

A gun such as the one pictured, from an unknown maker, in a condition that "Uncle Jed" would call "pitiful" sells at auction for between $5 and $20.

Phew. Thanks Guys. I was asking since I think I have the same gun bolted to a wagon outside for the past few years with the wife's display.Don't worry the action is welded shut and cannot be fired.
