Symbol stamped on Gold-Dot primers

I know it's not very important, but I need to know to quench my curiosity.

I noticed that there's the letter 'A' stamped on every primer of my 9mm Speer Gold-Dot ammunition, and was wondering what was the use of such marking?
 
Speer had some duty ammo that was experiencing some primer issues (failure to fire), it was low, something like 1 round in 40000 or something like that. The current duty ammo that has the good primers are marked with a small A on the primer to denote that this is factory fresh, duty grade ammo with no recall notices attached to it. It is top of the line ammo. You have to watch out for the bulk packed Gold Dots in the 250rd loose packs. They are being sold at a reduced rate because they are the recalled rounds.

I have never seen them for sale in Canada, they are offered for sale in the US. Guys on the Glock Talk forums reports very, very few FTF's with the bulk packed Gold Dots. Trust those only for the range and not for serious work. I believe the Canadian import regulations probably don't cover the bulk loose packed Gold Dots so that's why we don't see them. I prefer the duty grade factory fresh GD's in the 50rd boxes from P&D personally.
