What does it take to modify a synthetic stock; adding/removing martial?

The stock in question is a Butler Creek polymer stock for an SKS. I am wanting to remove the raised grip from the fore stock. I am also wanting to add a cut for the bayonet (I am of the opinion that the bayonet is the coolest feature of the SKS design and I am not wanting to remove it). I am also wanting to thicken and add material to the fore stock similar to the standard stock dimensions.

What martial can be applied/adhered and sculpted?

I will also be paint or coat the stock with a protectant. (Armacoat or simular)

Any input?

there is a lightweight adhesive filler made by upol called smc bonding filler (avalable at autbody supply places) that will adhire to ridged plastic if prepped properly. its light weight and very strong and works well. most auto fillers are not very good for ridgid plastic. smc can be prepped and painted with any product you like. the raised part you can file off as grinding on plastic usually results in mess.
