About 20 years ago I had a chance to buy this Argentine Colt. Took it home, boiled all the grease out of it and been shooting it since. Jacketed or SWC's it takes them all and never jams or fails to feed. The only things I've done to it are install a Wilson Combat rear sight and a Pachmyr grip. I've been told that these are identical to a "real" Colt just not made in North America. Out of curiosity - what would this be worth if I was to sell it and replace with a new one?

Armco had a reblued one that sold last week in the $500 area. It was one of the original Colt mfg ones, though. Not the latter, made in Argentina under licence ones. I was going to buy it as it was original Colt mfg but I missed out.

For an Argentine mfg model $400 - $500 from your pics isn't out of the question. I recall buying them ~ 15 years ago in the $250 area when they flooded the country with 'em.

Looks like is was 'beadblasted' and reblued to give it a matte finish like it was parkerized like the old USGI models.... I've had several 'beater' 1911's refinished that way when the finish gets too far gone... In the following the frame was redone that way and the slide except the 'flats' which were polished....

Any gunsmith with a beadblaster and blueing tanks can do it. Cost is relatively inexpensive.

That would be me :D It seemed a fair price for a Colt manufactured Argentine.
