Can'tseem to find the info, but what is the difference between the Tavor Gens? (I know 1 and 1.5 are canada ammo with a meprolight) The new ones are Flat Top, but I have heard Gen 2.5 going around?

New Trigger Pack IE better Trigger or?

When did the 2.5's start being imported? im looking to buy one that was imported Dec 2013.

Thanks

I'm not sure about "better" or not, but from the factory, the return assist spring (or whatever it is called) has been removed, so the trigger pull, while still a little heavy, is lighter.

2.5s also sport the new bolt carrier. This whole gen x.x is just kind of a way for us Tavor geeks to denote the differences introduced to the Tavor. The gens are not official terms from IWI or even North Sylva.

In my talks with Jon from North Sylva about updating my noisy old bolt carrier from a gen 2, up to the new smoother quiter bolt carrier from Gen 2.5, Jon recommended against it as he is the only IWI trained armourer in all of Canada meaning only he has the special tools required for complete dissasmbly of the gen 2.5 bolt carrier.

Special tools for bolt dissasembly, thats sum bull crap right there.... That would end up costing me too much... lol...

I guess Ill stick with my gen2 ;)

Sounds like a monopoly on the maintenence. I would much prefer to do the work myself providing I had the tools for the job.

Gen 2.5s started coming in mid summer of 2013 with the first FDE models. I would be almost positive its a 2.5 as the gen 2s stopped coming when the 2.5s started coming.

Either way, a quick check of the bolt carrier or triggerpack should reveal all assuming they have not been changed out.

From Pembroke, Ontario...going to be putting it on layaway and Picking it up when I go to Montreal in March...so Gen 2 is the way to go?

Honestly, IDK, I am just going off of what Jon from North Sylva told me. Really cant go wrong with either if you ask me. I am going to get a 2.5 bolt carrier to use regularly with my lefty bolt, and keep the spare righty bolt in the gen 2 carrier for when friends want to try it. Then all I'll have to swap is the full bolt carrier and ejection port which is easy with the use of a GHW FLEx cover.
