Anybody know if the new T-bolts can be dry-fired?

I looked in the manual and googled it with no luck. Thanks

I don't dry fire rim fires no matter what the manual says anyway. Snap caps or empty cases are cheaper than new firing pins and getting the chamber deburred.

I'm not looking to be doing 1000's per night.

I know my 10/22's are safe the way the firing pin is designed, and was wondering if the t-bolts were the same. I'd be very careful not to do it if it would damage the gun, but would be nice to not have to worry about it.

Just about any new gun with an inertial firing pin is safe to dry fire but if you are worried about it just use an spent case or a snap cap.

I also avoid excessive dryfiring but I agree that modern rimfires are better designed to avoid damage and if it was not you would likely find a "DO NOT DRYFIRE" warning in your search for info.....

I've seen mention of rimfire dry fire snap caps in the thread - can you recommend a brand of one you're using. I'd like to get some.
The only inert cartridges I've seen are proving or cycling rounds.

Pachmayr's are really nice as are the Brownell's ones. I've said it before and I'll say it again, dryfiring is the single best form of practice to develop your shooting skills. I do not understand why people are so afraid of doing it. It will not harm 99.9% of modern guns. The only gun I own that I don't dryfire empty is my T/C Encore as it does screw up that gun. It's the only one I own snap caps for and they are all A-Zoom's by Pachmayr.

Thanks for the info on the Brownell's product. The Pachmayr/A-Zoom product #12206 have a warning not to be used for dry firing.

Some people use plastic wall anchors in .22lr's but beware of plastic bits getting anywhere they shouldn't be as the anchor disintegrates. I usually use spent cases which work for a while and are free.
I've only broke one firing pin and that was dry firing a Marlin 30-30 lever action. Most likely that dryfire was just the final straw but there's no doubt in my mind that pins that don't hit a primer when fired go through a different stress.

That's right, I forgot to mention the drywall anchors. Either the yellow or the white will fit perfectly and they do last quite a while and are cheap.
