I recently bought a used 7mm barrel for my T/C encore.

I sighted it in dead on at 25 yards. At a 140 yards it is about 6-8 inches high.

Is that normal?

Thanks, Shane

What is the distance between the center line of the bore and the center line of the scope? That sounds like it could be possible. Dead on at 25 yards is pretty close, I personally prefer to be a few inches high at 25, then slowly move the target out to 50 then 100 yards and see where I'm at. Zero at 100 yards for close range action and you'll in the kill zone with just about anything.

Thanks!!!!!

So if I sight it in at 100 where would I be shooting at 200-250 yards?

That depends on the ammunition you are shooting. You need to shoot those distances to find out but most likely 1.5" high at 100 yards would give you a 200 yard zero.

My T/C Venture did the same thing... couldn't have been anymore dead-on at 25 yards...moved the target down to 100 yards and I shot about 5 inches high... I thought it should have been closer.

In my experience you should be 1" low at 25 . Remember the bullet crosses your line of sight twice. Once up close and second at your POI. So your number totally make sense to me , if u went 1" low at 25 you would likely be close to a 200 yard zero, drop it 16 clicks and see what happens.

I will give that a try...

As you see on this diagram (exaggerated), the first zero point is around 45 yd and the second at 200 yd. So, the higher the sight height, the higher will be the high point on the trajectory line and with this example, with a zero still at 45 yd but the second zero will not likely to be at 200 yd again.
