Sigh - Cam, this thread is not appreciated! Ever since we spoke about a year and a half ago about these little carbines I've been looking for a stainless G2 with no luck. I thought I was getting over these guns and you go posting this thread. I have a little guy who I'll be starting shooting probably next year and really want a Contender to do so.

Shucks Beaver now I feel bad not bad enough to sell any of my Contender stuff though...

You see I have been working on purchasing possibly the last new s/s G2 frame/butt stock/fore end in Canada for over a month now from a gun shop here in Canada they had it in stock but for some reaon or other they didn't charge my card or ship etc etc.

I am now told that it is on its way I thought it would be here this last Friday at the latest but it was a no show now I am not very patiently waiting thru a holiday hoping it is going to arrive tomorrow.

Here is an idea since Smith & Wesson bought out T/C and from what I understand relocated T/C's manufacturing plant/Custom Shop they are majorly backordered in the States and here but there is possibly a way contact Clay @ Prophet River he will show you how to import a used Contender/barrels.

You could do a Google search for Ed's Contenders he will ship barrels and Clay tells me he can import them I'm thinking that Ed's could ship a frame/butt stock/fore end/possibly a complete rifle to a FFL that Clay uses in Bellingham.

Hope that info helps a bit...

Yes Camp Cook is right on the money. I just bought a used contender action off of gunbroker and a barrel for my encore. Clay is going to do the importing as he has for my other contender barrel. THere are two new stainless G2 actions for sale on gunbroker right now. Could get expensive for you now.

Camp Cook you have also helped fuel my love for these little rifles. I just finished the checkering on my wifes 6.8 and it turned out so good I had to buy an action for myself. As soon as I have it photographed I post some pics.

I went with the encore frame so I can have the muzzle loader barrel and bought a couple of barrels for it.
22 hornet brl length 16.5"
375hh brl length 18.5"
3006 brl length is 15"
I find the 3006 to be the loudest of the bunch and the most recoil.

I wam willing to sell my 4570 brl that is 15" long. Price is $360 shipped.

I have been thinking about this for a long tiime now someday I would like to add a s/s Encore - as of now I'm only interested in 3 barrels for it an 18" 460S&W so I could also shoot my 454 Casull loads and a 21" - 22" s/s barreled 375H&H looking to load 260gr Accubonds or 250gr TTSX @ 2650fps and a 28" s/s 12 gauge barrel.

I have a 24" Gonic 50 cal mag muzzleloader barrel for my Contender plan is to use this frame for my 45-70 and 50cal mag Gonic muzzle loading barrels.

I wish BC still had their muzzle loader hunting season.

The little Contender Carbines are sweet little rifles!
I have been shooting one since 1991.
I have three barrels for it.
.357Maximum
7-30Waters (26"bull)
6mm TCU
Impossibly light and fun to carry.
The only weakness for me is the short buttstock.
I've used it to shoot lots of bears, deer (mulie&whitetail), coyotes gophers......lol!
just fun stuff.

Call Jo Brook they are a sponsoring dealer, an hour ago I bought one with a ss 308 barrel, last week I bought a 45-70 barrel, they seem to have lots of actions and barrels

You sure that wasn't a Encore/Prohunter that your referring too I'm asking because Contenders cannot handle the pressures of the 308 Win.

Can you get a short LOP "youth" stock? I looked on T/C's web site and they didn't list one.

They used to another option is you could just cut down a full length stock like I did for my guy when he gets bigger I will add lengths until he can use a regular stock.

The only weakness for me is the short buttstock.

My aftermarket butt stocks are 14" length of pull and then I install the Kick-Eez magnum recoil pad gives me at lest another inch I'm 6'3" and have no issues with lenght of pull....

Check out the last pic with the 3X3 blacktail/45-70 it has a Kick-Eez grind to fit pad on it.

Thanks campcook, but my contender is the G1 variety.

I have a reinhart/fajen aftermarket stock, but it still is a little short.
No biggie.
I can and have shot lots with it anyhow. They are just a nice little package eh!?

I have three G1 frames all of the black/gray laminate stocks I have are aftermarket contact Gunstocks Inc they should be able to ship direct to us here in Canada.
