have any of you had a custom barrel made for your t/c prohunter?, I mean had the barrel cut off the hinge and a new barrel welded back on?, reason I ask is I really want a 357Mag barrel for my prohunter and was going to have a 50cal black powder barrel removed from the hinge and a new barrel installed but not sure if it will work and how bad it will break the bank?, your input would be helpful

been looking for a damaged barrel to make a 303british, been looking for the hinge block alone with no success, going to make one this winter as a project, I would expect the cost to be in the 500 plus range at a gunsmith not including the barrel

I'm in the process of making a number of Pro-Hunter barrels from "Stub-kits" purchased from a company in Washington state. They are not cheap, thanks to our exchange rate, shipping and duties. All it takes is a Google search for "Encore Stub Kit" and you should see them.

what calibers are you doing, some pics would be great, are you doing them your self?, I asked Jason at gunco in Ottawa if he was interested in doing the job.

I have 17 hornet, 20 Vartarg, 6x47 lapua, 300 Whisper, and 338 wm in the works (have all the barrels and stub kits at gun smith). I have a gun smith friend doing the work as its a little finicky.
Did you get a chance to view the youtube clips of the "Encore Stub kits" on line?
I will definitely post some pics as the barrels get completed.

I need to look for a damaged or cheap barrel and machine the threaded inside to make one of these, 100 would have been cheap, what are the prices of the stubs?

I had Ron Smith re-bore a 30/06 to 8X63 swede. Just have to start with a small enough caliber that can be re-bored and re-chambered.

Russ...

Stubs are $150 US and end up about $234 CDN by the time they got here last August with exchange and all the other charges.

Bonemaker, I have one of those kits from Eagle View Arms, and a new barrel and reamer.

I am looking for someone who can handle the job for me. Will you gunsmith do it? I am in no rush so I can wait until yours are finished.

Please get back to me. Thanks, Brian Gallup. Kamloops, BC.
