What would it take to get a run of T/C barrels in 303 British. With a .311 or .312 groove dia.? Maybe 25" long, stailess, fluted or octagon. MGM in the States might be the ticket. Or maybe Ron Smith could rebore a 30 cal. barrel and chamber it in 303Br. or even 303 Epps.

It would take a certain number of buyers at a certain price. You should ask Thompson Center if they care to calculate those numbers that could make it worth their while. I like the .303British so I'd be a potential customer. (As long as it's stainless, I dislike stainless guns more than I like the .303British.)

Hey I am sure you could get a barrel made/rechambered up by some gunsmith. The 303br is a great historical round and next to the 30-30 has likely put more meat in Canadian freezers over the years. If you are not having fun tinkering with your guns what is the use. Get one and go have fun. When i was a young lad we used to shoot a lot of cast bullets in our 303s. They were pretty accurate and cheap to shoot too.

I have a s/s Prohunter with s/s barrels in 30-06 and 375H&H I have absolutely no interest in having a barrel in 303 British this cartridge belongs in a Lee Enfield yeah I have one of those too.

Couldn't fathum the interest of a 303 in a Ruger #1 either.

It comes down to personal preferences. I myself use my brand new '54 No4 Mk2 more often than I do my 30-06. I do so because it shoots better. With my 174 grain loads, there is not any North American game I cannot take with it. It's my preference, choice and belief that it is the best for me and my hunting preferences. Same as the OP, if the OP chooses to use a 303 then that is his choice.

Far be it for anyone to criticize someone else for matters of preference. The question was not "which is better". The question was "can I get a 303 barrel". More to the point, you were absolutely off the point of this whole thread. In relation to the original question, who cares what you can "fathom", because it has nothing to do with the intent of this thread.

My intent was to see if a dealer could bring a run of these in with a .311" or .312 groove. Unlike the .314" ruger barrels.
Be easier to get one in 30/30 and ream out to 303Br. and just use 30cal bullets. But that's just not what I'm after.

For me it was just to have something a bit different from your run-of-the-mill rifles.
