About a year ago I bought a .50cal Encore. I put my .280 rem barrel on it and fired it for the first time today. I havnt fired it with the .50 cal barrel yet either.

I found the spring tension on the hammer to be excessive when cocking it, and the trigger weight semed excessive as well. I had an Encore a couple years ago in 25-06 and I dont seem to recall the hammer and trigger issues.

Anyone else find this with thier Encore? Is there a mod to fix this?

Google for "encore trigger job". You'll get back a hit or two detailing some options.

I doodled up mine based on the info online as to springs alone and reduced the trigger pull to about half of the overly heavy stock condition. A little more and I expect I'll get it down to a nicely light 3 to 4 lbs pull for my shooting needs.

Bellm has springs that can easily lighten the trigger pull to 2 1/2 to 3lbs and at the same time increase hammer spring weight. Three springs come in a kit together and it's a do-it-yourself thing if you don't want to go crazy light.

I just bought a hammer spring only since I'm happy with my trigger as it is for now. I got it in the mail last week and haven't installed it yet. Supposed to be a no brainer.
