I'm thinking about trading for a T/C encore, it comes with a 223 barrel and a 300winmag barrel. Can the barrels from a prohunter or other T/C single shots fit on the encore
I found the .300 wm bbl kicked/slapped like a mule with the Encores lite frame(from the bench that is). That was with the orig. Encore 26" hvy bbl, Not too sure if a 28" fluted Pro-Hunter bbl would be much different?
It can be tolerated with the use of a Limbsaver recoil pad. I switched to a .270 bbl next to my 209x50 for all use and hunting applications.
The 270 to light for moose don't you know there are guys on this forum that would use a 223 for moose and drop it with one shot at 400 yards everytime...
I really prefer the 26" Encore barrels over the 28" Pro Hunter barrels. The longer barreled Pro hunter doesn't carry worth a crap over your shoulder on a sling and you have to add a sling stud in order to mount a bipod. The extra long tube is front heavy and the recoil reduction achieved by the stock of the Pro Hunter is almost all done with the Sims pad which you can also add to the regular Encore.
I don't find the weight of the longer barrels an issue, I just carry them muzzle down on my off side shoulder, I believe the carry method is called African Carry and I never use a bi-pod so an extra stud is non-issue to me.
I have 2 different length bi-pods but find I never use them...
I am considering buying a 28" 243 Win barreled Encore and having it rechambered to 6mm-284 for my long range predator rifle second barrel would be in 460 S&W...
High Plains Gunstocks in the States has Encore and Contender stocks the unfinished butt stocks are $95 and an unfinished fore ends are $65 US funds.
I have tried both GunStocks Inc & Boyds but from what I have been reading from those that have used all 3 on other sites High Plains Gunstocks maybe the best around.
I don't know if rules/laws have change for stocks but the last time I ordered stocks if the order was under $100 it was ok to ship thru customs without permits.
