T/C Hawken

I would also endorse the Hoppes #9 patch lube, you'll never have to clean between shots with it, also makes it easier to load.
Have you seen the "Poly" unbrakeable ramrods ? Check out thegunworks.com or call Jack at 2paws trading in Nanaimo 250-722-2474.They come as a replacement for the wooden rod with 2 metal ends, or extra long and cut to suit.
When you are loading, can you feel any roughness in the bore ?
Cheers nessy.

I got out again yesterday evening and tried 60gr FFg .490 balls over .10 ox-yoke prelubed patches- what a difference! Loaded to a tight/firm and I shot 3 rounds touching at 50yards. Very happy.
Now I'll "mike" the patches and see what they actually are, maybe the others were labled wrong?

Also 20 rounds fired last night, all went off nicely using the slightly hotter Remington #11's.

It sounds as if you are getting it worked out. Half of the fun is working up a load that shoots good. The Remington caps I used 15 years ago where pathetic at best, they must have improved a lot.The best nipples I have found are "Magnum Spitfire", using them with the standard CCI, I never had a hang fire, but they are hard to find around here. So I am using Knight Red Hot nipples now, and they seem to be very good too. Happy hunting 1shot.
