I am looking at an icon for a new member of my hunting rifle gang, Im just wondering if anyone on here owns one and how you like it how much you paid and how it shoots.

I bought a TC Icon .308 in Sept 07. I did a range report in this forum so if you do a search, it will come up. I consider it to be an excellent rifle....many good features. Most groups fit under a quarter @ 100M. I think it cost about $1100.00 incl GST. I liked it so much, that when I went looking for a donor rifle to have rebarreled to 260 Rem... I couldn't find anything better, so used it... and it is still at the gunsmiths.
I will try to find my post and bring it back up to the top.

I've got one in a .30TC and it shoots like a hot damn. They have brought out a long action version for 2008 as well as stainless/composite. They seem to be selling like hotcakes for T/C.

I guess its stainless, coated with weathershield. But, if they can keep it @ $1000 or less, it would be a good buy for sure. Comes with a hogue stock, DM, and machined integral bases. :)

Actually it is stainless...they just coat the stainless with weathershield...

There's no reference on their site as to it being SS. If it was, why not promote that.

WEATHER SHIELD™

This system, when applied to the barrel and other critical metal parts, make the gun nearly impervious to rust. Available on the Icon™, Triumph™ and Omega Z-5, T/C’s Weather Shield will help you protect your investment, because you never know where your next hunting adventure will take you.

Thanks. I am in the market for a wood/stainless with DM. The weathershield would be great for me on a wood stock. Price would be an obvious factor, considering other brand offerings.

The fact that is says SST in the barrel description in the link you provided would be my first clue!

I saw that, but they should push the fact that it is stainless with the Weathershield. Did they have one at the SHOT show?

The last time I was in Calgary, I popped into WSS to grab somthing. To my surprise there was nobody waiting at the counter, so I had a girl hand me one in a wood stock. The first thing I noticed was how heavy it was. It was probably a little too heavy for my liking, but it felt good and solid. Now there was enough room between the barrel and stock to house a family of mice, but the rifle just felt like it would be a good shooter. I thought the plastic magazine was a little cheesy for a rifle of this quality, but I'm sure it wouldn't pose any problems. And it really is a full size rifle. For whatever reason any ad I've seen made the rifle look like it was downsized, but it's not. I think you would probably enjoy one of these. :)

I have a wood/blue in 30 T/C and the SS/weathershield in 308. Both are great shooters, every gun should come with integral scope bases. Just an aside my Triumph is camo/weathershield and it performed flawlessly in the wet in NZ.
