Then I reload. Since you're carrying a single, necessity makes you focused. A well aimed shot, a faster reload than you would think.
They don't but it s a public forum so we debate whatever an OP posts. The largest caliber I have found for TC is from Magnum Research custom barrel and it is .458. I think that is likely the largest caliber for a Ruger as well. The Ruger is a the stronger action but both can compete in current available large bore calibers. Now if you want to start souping up .458 then maybe Ruger is your best option to keep your face.
I have hunted with everything from single to handgun including semi with a full 20 round mag and selective fire. Never needed more than one shot except for once when I needed one follow up and that was with a flintlock.

I love #1's. I miss my 22-250 Stainless Varmint with Pepper laminate stock.

We did a little experiment with both action rifle‘s and number ones at the range,it was based on speed and accuracy for follow-up shots, the difference was so slight that wasn’t worth mentioning. I think Thompson would however be much slower with its break action.

Most of the calibres that have been discussed here in terms of strength of action, are operating within the same parameters. 458 WinMag doesn’t operate at higher pressure than a 22-250
