T/C Pro Hunter vs Ruger No. 1

Had a TC PH with 45/70 and .416 Rigby barrels... Both are low pressure rounds...

I do believe even Bellum won't chamber an Encore tube for anything WSM or Weatherby, beats the crap out of the action.

Just because they make barrels for them, doesn't make the TC a gun that will handle them well in terms of longevity. They have issues with the hinge pins with the higher pressure cartridges, like most other break actions. Seems to me there were some specialized hinge pin mods floating around for TC's. The #1 or new 1885's on the other hand, have no issues with that, they will last with whatever cartridge you want to put thru them.

I own both. They're both cool. It's obvious the Ruger is stronger. But the Pro Hunter has additional barrels available.... So it just comes down to what you want in a single shot.

As stated the number 1 is much stronger , but the TC works well for its intended purpose . Factory 416 rigby loads are generally mild , the number 1 in rigby can push a 400gr north of 2600fps. Not sure I would want to duplicate that with the TC.
