T/C R-55 Benchmark or Buckmark rifle?

I am curious to know what the differences between the two are. Talking about 22lr versions.

How is the quality and worksmanship on the R-55 rifles? How about Browning?

Is the R-55 made of all metal parts?

I like the Benchmark Heavy barrel version. I know they are a little pricey, but I would not mind if the price matches the quality. Also the Lifetime Warranty is a good seller too.

Can the same be said about the Browning Buckmark?

Besides these two, are there any SA heavy barrels to be considered?

I know absolutly nothing about the T/C Benchmark.......

That said, I figgure the Browning Buckmark is a Very good Semi auto choice in .22.

I own 10/22's, a Cooey, a Gevarm, Savage's, and a Buckmark Pistol..... I had a buckmark Rifle, :redface: but I sold it as the "fella" at the G-store told me the one I ordered was on the way..... I had a wood stock, heavy barrel model and I wanted a Laminate stock model.... I actually sold the Wood one for $50 more than I paid for it, but apparently the Laminate one is "lost" or "misplaced" somewhere in another dimension....... :bangHead:

The Buckmark is BY FAR the funnest and Best shooting Semi .22 I own/d.... I put a heavy barrel & $300 worth of Trigger parts on my 10/22 and I still can't quite match the Buckmark.

Out of the box my Buckmark only needed a litle tweaking to be awesome.... The 10/22 needed a cash injection! Right now I have $575 in after market parts in my tricked out 10/22, and a Brand new Buckmark is only $600, a new 10/22 is going to run about $300.....

As I said I know nothing about the T/C....... But I do have an opinion on the BMR..... Hope this helps....
 
T/C Hordes? I doubt it. Watch the 10/22 crowd move in though, they always do.

On a more serious note, I have had my T/C for a year now and it is fantastic. It works great right out of the box but I did a trigger job on it and modified the safety anyway.
It is all metal and the quality is unbelievable. Personally I think the Buckmark is ugly, but different strokes I guess.
 
i have one of those ugly buckmark rifles, and it is a GREAT shooting rifle. Mine is the heavy barreled laminate version and I put a Leupold 2-7 rimfire scope on it. Ran about 1200 rounds through mine and its 5 mags. Never any jamming issues, but I do get the occasional stovepipe. I have lubed it with Eezox. This gun is very accurate on gophers and jack rabbits out to 100 yards. Might have to get me another one.............. FS
 
Very strange - I had been considering starting the very same thread.

Both rifles are interesting. I had briefly considered buy both, keeping the one I like better, and selling the other. My fear is I'd just end up keeping both... ...maybe that's not so bad...

That's a legitimate fear. I first bought a Ruger 10/22 target. A few years later I saw a Remington TVP 597 and a T/C R55 Benchmark for sale. I bought them both. I don't think I'll be selling any of them. Even though three semi auto .22LR target rifles is definitely redundant. I think I'll keep them all. I like buying them, I"m not so fond of selling anything.

:agree: I also enjoy my rimfire collection. :)
 
I can't answer to the buckmark or the T/C Benchmark but I can attest to the customer service provided by Thompson Center. They are second to none in my books very easau to deal with and prompt responses even after being bought by S&W!! I own several T/Cs and would own many more if the boss would let me.
 
you should really have a good look at a 10/22..... :p

i have heard that the quality and accuracy of the T/C R55 is excellent!

by the sound of things either rifle is a good choice, but i prefer the looks of the R55, the buckmark rifle is nice too, but just a little odd at the same time...

BUY BOTH!
 
Buy something that you know will last a lifetime.

I have heard that there were some FTF/FTE issues with the earlier T/C, but that should be addressed now with the new R-55.
 
I am at the edge of buying a T/C, but I would like to ensure that the rifle is built right and worth the money.

I am not a big fan of Buckmark; it looks like a pistol with a longer barrel and different stock.

I now have two buckmark rifles both laminate heavy barrels, one stainless and one blued. Sold my 10\22 and dont take any of my other 22's out anymore. Only the Buckmarks. I love em.

A fair number of us here do. I haven't shot mine yet so I can't comment on the accuracy. That being said others here have posted some excellent results. They have a reputation for being extremely nice and well built rimfires with exceptional accuracy.

I'm very happy with the build quality of mine. The only flaw is the plastic T/C cap on the pistol grip. Everything else looks very well made. The trigger is a bit heavy but I believe they can be adjusted.

I'm still waiting for the bases to arrive. I'll be putting a Falcon 4.5-18x on it. Should be a decent combination.
 
Have Buckmark pistols (not rifle) and T/C R55. The R55 is more accurate than my CZ bolts. Like cheek weld on stock too.

The Buckmarks are good too, if thinking of getting a pistol is nice that can interchange mags with the "rifle"

Likely would enjoy either. My vote is R55 Benchmark and if you want a Browning the take down SA (yes completely different but a lot of fun to shoot).
 
I agree the BMR's are kinda fugly.....but it's a matter of function over form.

Once you shoulder one...just once....you WILL buy it :)

My favorite rimfire of all time is the BM sporter....and I'll bet I've had 200 rimfires pass through my hands over the years.

The TC is nice (owned one of those as well), but nothing compares to the pointability of the BMR.
