T/C R55 Benchmark

I have a leupold base coming for my R-55. I'll be mounting a Falcon Menace 4.5-18x 56mm IR on it. A bit big but oh well. It's a target rifle. Should work well.

yes my R55 is acurate. the stock is the s**ts when u mount
a scope. i added a ABS sewer pipe cheek peice for a better
cheek weld. i ordered 6 fiering pins from T/C. $2.40
each. no problem with the price. they are all to short.
the won,t answer my e-mails , i can,t get through by phone
i took a picture and sent it by snail mail with the problem.
these look like they came out of the reject bin.
that was a month ago. still no answer. needless to say,
i'm not impressed.

How easy are the mags to load?

I've heard mixed reviews about 'em....

Also, do they provide the 2-piece scope mount?

The mags are quite easy to load... easier than my old Lakefield 64B, or my Brno Mags...

Reason being... they have this hole in the follower... you can buy this gadget to put into the hole, and you can pull the follower down with the hand that holds the mag, while the other hand slips the rounds in...

Now... I'm cheap... so I just use a small finishing nail to do the same job!

I'm not sure if they come from the factory with the base? I bought mine used... it came with a Leupold mount, but the scope I want to use on it is a bit too big for the ones it came with, so I'm trying to find a base that I can use weaver rings with.

The 5-rounders are not an issue, the 10-rounders can be a bear unless you use a small allen key to pull the follower down. Then the rounds just drop in. I prefer the 5rd mags, as they fit flush with the stock and make for a better off-hand hold.

Mine did not come with 2-piece bases, I just ordered a set of their website and had them in a few days.

Man you guys are driving me crazy with these accuracy reports. I've always thought the R-55 a nice looking rifle but a tad expensive. Maybe you do get what you pay for!? Hmmm, maybe a nice R-55 Sporter would make a nice gift to myself. Who sells these things?

I have the speed loader for 10 rd mag MUCH easier to load well worth getting one. So tell me what shoots best in your Benchmarks? CCI standard.....what is the product #, velocity? So far CCI subsonics & Federal #510 shoot best in mine.
Merry Christmas!

I have never thought that the 10 rounders were that hard to load, I just push straight down with the base of the round and then rotate it into position and it seems really easy. My four year old can usually get the first few rounds into one.

I love my R-55 Classic, did some ten round rapid ( as fast as I can go) fire at 100 yds and it kept it into four inches. I mounted a 5-15 x 40 Elite with Mil dot, can't wait for the gophers to wake up.
