First review, sorry if I sound like an idiot..... ;)

I have been lusting after a T/C Icon in ultra wood for a while now. Since they have been discontinued and don't come up for sale very often used I have been SOL.

Enter the T/C Venture, definatly not in the same "class" of rifle as the Icon, but it's my first experience with a T/C product. This particular model is Blued/Camo Synthetic and chambered in 308win. It features a 22" 5r rifled barrel, and 3 round drop mag.

My first impression of this rifle was very good. It seemed like a solid built, smooth, well balanced rifle. The stock is very rigid and almost feels like a Fiberglass composite material, as opposed to the standard synthetic stocks found on budget rifles. It comes to the shoulder very well and the front / rear grip areas are very ergonomic. The stock has extensive cross bracing in the free floated barrel channel and it also features dual Pillar bedding.

The Action is a standard Push Feed, fed from the 3 round detachable mag. This rifle feeds unbelievably smooth, from the mag and by single loading. You can literally throw a cartridge in the action like a Cowboy Action Shotgunner and it cycles it with zero hangup.

The bolt is full diameter with a 3 lug head and 60 degree lift, there is a cocking indicator that protrudes from the rear of the bolt. The saftey is the 2 position type, with the bolt handle staying unlocked in both positions.

The Trigger is Excellent and is adjustable without taking the action out of the stock.

This rifle exceeded my expectations, and if your looking at the usual suspects of entry level rifles, be sure to put the Venture on the list.

I mounted a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 and tried various cheap factory Ammo

Thanks for this review. Was interested in a venture some time ago, but went with an Encore for its ambidextrous use. Nice to see a budget rifle shoot so well. I guess the guy pulling the trigger had a small part to play as well.

Thanks for the review . I'm thinking of purchasing a Venture myself . This gave me some more reasons why I should . Thanks again for the info.

I have the same rifle in 7-08 and I'll x2 your review. I was pleasantly surprised with the function and performance. Some folks don't like the snap together mag but a couple of strategically placed drops of model glue eliminate any "wiggle"
I topped it with a Nikon Buckmasters camo scope to match and it has performed well for me. 2 hunts, 2 shots, 2 deer.

I bought a venture the first year they came out. It's a 30-06 with a 3-9x40 bushnell elite. I did have trouble with the snap-together magazine...first time I ever had the gun in the woods, I loaded the magazine, put it in the gun, and the bottom piece fell out. I fixed that one with some epoxy, and T/C sent me two more free of charge. I have had no trouble of any kind since. Shoots very well, and has never failed me. Love the rifle.

I have the same rifle. I used it to win our gun clubs Hunter Benchrest match. With 185 grain Berger bullets and a 8X scope it averages just over .6" for 3 shots at 100 yards.
