Seen a nice all winter camo package the other day in one of these T/C Venture bolt rifles... Comes with a T/C scope........ what's the good and the bad? Worth the $669? What are people getting for accuracy? Thx

I haven`t shot one yet, looked at one seemed real nice. Been hearing reports the regular models are accurate, I saw those packages as well and would like to try one in 22-250 but something else came up. As for are they worth it, that is a judgment call. I would take the chance myself, have to see how much ruckus the boss puts up when the 06 shows up.

Very accurate rifle out of the box, little brother of the famous Icon, you will love it... JP.

Buy it and don't look back. Seriously, you will not regret it.
I've got 1 in 270 and am getting 1/2inch groups at 100 off the bipod. Its comfortable to the shoulder (although a touch on the heavy side), smooth action, and decent recoil pad. The only thing I would change is the trigger. Its crisp, but a little heavy. I've adjusted as much as it'll go and its still at about 4lbs...
All in all, as soon as I have the cash I'm getting another in 243.

I know when i see an Icon i buy it, they are sooo addictive, just can't wait.... the word is for 2012 they will have a Icon Precision Hunter in 338 Federal, how sweet can it get... JP.

TC bolt action rifles, best kept secret of the shooting world, try one and you will be hooked... JP.

I own a Venture in 7mm mag. ( Paid $499 plus tax etc.. )It took a bit of load testing but she will shoot MOA. The trigger is supposed to be adjustable but I found no effect at all when adjusting. However I would rate it as a 7 out of 10 from the factory. I think a bit of polishing would of improved it and the pull weight is acceptable for a general hunting and range gun. ( Not good enough for serious long range or bench rest shooting IMHO)

I like the weight of the barrel as it is a good compromise between a bench and sporting barrel and the stock is a step up from savage tupperware but not a huge step. The detachable magazine seems flimsy but mine has worked fine and shows no issue. I am using mine for a long range hunting rig when I wait at the edge of fields. When mounting the scope the allignmnet of the holes were not perfect but well within the adjusment range of the scope and well within a reasonable margin of error for todays guns. To compare my sons TC impact was absolutely perfect in alignment showing that Thompson center has good quality control even on their econo guns.

My load is 140 gr Berger hunting bullets moving around 3000 fs. She is set 2" high at 100 and I can't wait for a nice fat doe to step out at the far corner of the field I've been watching. ( 427 yards ). I'd like to use it on a buck but a 5X5 made an error in judgement last saturday and my muzzle loader knocked him into the freezer.

For the money they are good value. $100 or so less and you are into the savage econo guns. I think they are better than the Rem SPS. ( Both in the same price range)

Fit and finish is a solid 8/10
trigger 7/10
accuracy 8.5/10
Magazine 5/10
Smoothness of action loading and unloading 9/10 ( The bolt is vary smooth and solid . Much better than any SPS or savage I've tried.)

Predators are a little different than the plain Venture models. Mine is a Venture Predator;

Plain Venture model;

If you compare the early Canadian models with just the stock that is camo and the new Predator model these will be what you notice as a differance. Basicaly they added the alluminum pillars, a fluted barrel that is shorter and lightened up the overall wieght a bit.

I have one in winter camo, 300 win mag. Very accutate out of the box. Handles recoil very well. Smooth crisp trigger. The finish is very nice and seems like it will be very durable. Awesome gun overall.

Tc

I have an Icon in .243 that can shoot 1 inch groups at 200 yards. The most accurate gun I own to date and a great value.
Last year while cruising through Yakima Washington I had the pleasure of perusing TC's products in their traveling sales van. At that time they were selling the Venture's south of the border for $299 - how can you beat guaranteed accuracy for that price!?

Is that the Cabela's deal that they have on right now with the scope and rifle in all matching real tree winter camo for $650?

Yes it is the cabelaz deal. And well worth it. Heard only about 4000 of these in winter camo made. Looks good fun to shoot. You cannot beat the price either.
