T1x as a PRS trainer

I know there’s is a thread on the rimfire forum but I figured maybe it’s more appropriate to post here.

I want a T1x to build a PRS trainer. The T1x will drop into any T3/T3x chassis which is fantastic. Now if only a company would build AICS pattern mags that will feed the T1x in a T3/T3x chassis.

Has anyone heard any chatter about this? You wouldn’t think it would be too hard to do. I’ve already contacted MDT and Insite Arms to suggest it.

Insite is bringing in the Vudoos and their mags. I thought I saw somewhere mags are like $60.

However, I also read the mag retention on the T1x is in the action. So, it may look funny bit I think you can probably just use the T1x mags. I think...
 
I read the same thing as Ryan, so fingers crossed. I plan to run the action in my chassis, but I’m going to have to figure out some way to get the barrel weight up to balance more like the centre fire action.
 
Now that my memory has improved I think it is stated in one of the videos from shot.

Even Vudoo wont be a big barrel on theirs. I am looking forward to mine either way.
 
I’ve got a spare Bravo that I’d like to use with the T1x. Looking at photos it looks like the mag clips in to the bottom metal like the usual T3 /T3x mags.
 
What if you used an aftermarket stock that uses the factory bottom metal? The German Gun Stock has an inlet pattern to use factory bottom metal, that would work. I would be looking seriously at this too, but I recently purchased a CZ 452 Varmint, so I am too heavily invested in that now to switch.

Because the T1x is so close to offering the same rifle and ergonomics as one of my PRS guns. I have the Bravo already and honestly the Bravo is by far the best value out there. Similar stocks are twice the price.
 
The quickest solution is to go for a composite stock with either CTR or AICS type floor plate that is made for CTR opening. The Tx1 mag plate will fit into a CTR opening if you don't mind a little gap left right of the floor plate to the stock. We make 4 different stocks for the T3, all of them will take the TX1. We went over to the Sako/Tikka stand at the European IWA show and fitted a Tx1 into one of our factory bedded stocks. Perfect fit. I ordered a Tx1 for myself right away.

I am pretty sure someone will have a solution for the aics or CTR mag system soon. I was asked to take some pictures of the Tx1 mag and floor plate for a local CNC geek.

Sorry, but I just want to clarify a little here, as I think I understand the setup but just want to make sure. So the T1x uses a block to adapt a CTR mag well to fit the T1x factory magazine? What you're saying is that if you have a stock or chassis that is inletted for the CTR magazine, you should be able to drop the action/mag well adapter in and run the factory mag?

Kudu, what I meant is. The TX1 has a bottom metal (plastic) that has the same footprint as the original T3x Lite for example. Fits into the same stock. The CTR stocks have a different bottom inlet, it is wider but the front and rear tang are in the same position as the T3x lite plastic .
Meaning any composite or plastic stock that takes either the T3/T3x Lite/Hunter etc. mag system or any stock that takes a CTR floorplate will be able to take the TX1 floor plate. Only issue is that the Tx1 or a normal centrefire plastic T3 floorplate will be narrower and not quite fill the gap of a CTR stock. Position will be correct though and it functions.
If you have a chassis system you will need to wait until someone comes out with a adapter. Be it AICS to Tx1 or CTR to Tx1.
At the moment a more conventional composite /wood/plywood/plastic stock with bottom metal or mag system is easier to adapt to Tx1

Crashman, we are more in the rest of the world market, only a few in Canada. Slowly getting into the USA. Stocks are hand laid up carbon monocoque construction with internal carbon frame and integrated carbon pillars. Made all wet in wet so no weak connections. Inlets carbon wrapped moulded not milled. No CNC on these. Aerospace epoxy resin oven cured in the mould. No Gelcoat. We started making stocks about ten years when I was looking for a stock for my hunting rifle. Mainly make Remmy/Tikka T3. PSE-Composites, Ireland. the good thing about that.... I get to shoot nice stocks and have an excuse to "test" things in the field.
