If he does not recall and someone not knowing the problems with these rifles gets hurt. That person lawyers up. I could see a loss of a companies fire arms license and that would be the least of their worries.

i was wondering this myself. maybe there was no proofing at all? if that was my name, my proof company that let those go , id be mighty nervious. my money is on that is whatever stamp that the hauck had around was used, or etched. there should be no way these would pass a real proof house into comercial service. very very greasy stuff happend with this deal. im still suprised the add has been left up

As the importer/distributor, Marstar would be the one on the hook for any legal liability issues since these were imported from Europe. The chance of a successful suit on another continent is pretty slim, so our courts have taken the position that the importer/distributor will be held to the same level of responsibility as if they manufactured the product....
Which makes it all the more difficult to understand why they sold these without a thorough inspection, and why they still continue to sell them as is.

The manufacturer marking and CIP proofing appear be put on with a laser at the same time in the example I examined. I checked a number of German guns in my collection, the CIP N (Nitro) proof is a stamped into the steel or imprinted via laser etching. Not surprising that it would be lasered on an M1 actually considering the surface hardness. The inspectors are supposed to magnaflux the locking surfaces after the 2 proof rounds. What is surprising is that the manufactures name and info matches exactly the CIP N marking.

Dear Sir, We are a Canadian firearms importer and distributor. I have Several hundred Italian M1 Garand receivers and would be interested to export them to have them built into complete rifles. I
would be interested to hear from you Regarding this Possibility, price etc. Looking fo4rward to your reply, Anthony Tornyi

That is Anthony from TradeEx. Maybe he will choose to look at the possibility of finding other potential shops able to build complete Garands... TradeEx does have lots of receiver, I think I should get one or two simply for future use!

Thank you r_taylor for an excellent post and the best documented and proven evidence so far. Conclusive to say the least.

I can't see how anyone would be able to continue to call these T2 rifles after reviewing all the evidence, much less call them safe. It is very concerning that these were allowed to come to market as they are and raise questions over and above their supposed origin. The gunsmith (and I use the term very loosely) and proofing house have a lot of explaining to do about their safe work processes or lack thereof. This is entering into fraud and other legal grounds.

Well if this thread proves anything is that there is a market for M1 rifles and that the ones in Korea might be worth importing now.

Too many here are satisfied with a full refund...What would happen if (in the contractual sense) all who purchased T2 rifles in excellent condition demanded what they have contractually entered into...a T2 rifle in excellent condition!?
By accepting a refund, at most all Marstar will suffer is the loss of profit from the deal, (you know, same bottom line before the deal) however, if everyone who purchased stood together on the position that Marstar must now produce and ship at its cost what was offered (Italian T2 rifles in Excellent condition) a strong message will have been sent.
A) bullsh1tting the gun community will cost you, and...
B) the community will stand together to ensure that you pay if you try to pull one over on us. We are not a stupid bunch.

HITZY, here we go again with your accurate statements, very few parts on the T2 are unique to that rifle, and of course we have spares....
The first conversions the T-1 was made up with new barrels, for some reason the Italian government decided to use modified .30-06 barrels.
Had you been there to advise them I'm certain it would have turned out differently.
John

...apparently this isn't the case!?

I could forgive the bubba-built parts rifle - mistakes get made and maybe too much trust was given that the builder knew what they were doing. Ironclad Guarantee is great in this respect.

But, John: you humped these, grossly misrepresenting their provenance. That's foul ball.

That poor bastard in the Marstar video holding these Garnades so close to his face while he proclaims them the finest he's seen in a while. Hopefully he has full dental coverage.
