T2 Garand - Part 1

so far at least one of the deceived buyers had the courage to leave negative feedback for john1.

Way to go...

just imagine, he will have 100 negatives by tomorrow morning, priceless.

These rifles are not original T2 that were in storage for many decades. The description on Mastars website are absolutely incorrect. The Italian deliveries of Garands to the Danish Military were all in 30-06. Denmark did not surplus any Garands before the 1990's - and the surplus of the Danish Garands was acutally highly controversial here in Denmark and almost fell through. Any sale/surplus from the Danish Army is well documented. The company that initially purchased the Garands is actually only located 30km from me. Just to end any speculation/further discussion about originality of these rifles - if you encounter a Garand in 308win built on a Danish marked receiver, then it is not military original. These rifles are all COMMERCIAL put together parts guns!

Thank you for your input. Welcome to CGN.

I was wondering why this thread keep popping up even after they were sold out....now I know why...I was too late when this went for sale....in retrospect that was actually a blessing.

Ps...learned so much while reading this thread about the Garand

Greetings. I registered on your site for the express purpose of following this story. The word is out in the US, at least to the extent of the Civilian Marksmanship Program forums which have a not inconsiderable following. I've been through all 77 pages and it took some little while to read it. Flabbergasting. The liability issues involved are frightening. Very much enjoy the Canadian wit often encountered in these posts, the serious subject matter notwithstanding. Hitzy, you're precious.

So maybe someone should write a book, "10,001 Different Ways to Get Stung When Buying a Garand." I know it would sell a few copies in the States.

And the Hildabeast is? :) Welcome to this site American brothers.

Darn now look where we're going. OK back to the "Rest Of The Story"

I'm not your father, but talking politics on a gun forum is a great way to make people stop reading a thread. All we're missing is for someone to show up and explain why we should all vote for Canadian politician "fill name here".

I come here to avoid that crap. There's a forum area specifically for it - which I purposefully avoid as do most members, I suspect.

If there is no rule against politics in the milsurp forum - in this man's view, there should be,

So what's the latest? Has anyone even spoken to marstar on the phone to see what the heck is going on besides them refusing to pay return shipping on the defective rifles?

It might be better for them to sell these as disassembled parts. The bolt and barrel may as well go straight to the smelter though.

So far john1 got only 2 negative feedbacks, either the buyers don't have the balls to leave negative, or the Garand deal was not that bad after all.

Some users have posted a few pages back that when asking for an RMA number the reason being quoted for shipping is that the firearms are eminently serviceable and that people'e concerns are totally unwarranted because they were proof fired in germany and are therefore safe.

No mention of the fact that they are mis-advertised (fraudulently? Dunno- I'm not a lawyer), or that being able to unscrew barrels by hand is a defect or not, or even whether the bolts were welded on before or after proof firing. We just don't know and Marstar has gone into full-on ostrich mode while they avoid the cost of making things right. They are tearing up their Ironclad Guarantee, clause by clause, even after john posted in this thread that he would refund shipping - no questions asked. Their reputation is being torn up along with it.

I'm truly very disappointed in what until now I had considered a preferred local place to do business.

My advice to people who are getting partial refunds - go shop at Tradex. Marstar gets all their best inventory from there anyhow these days and the Tradex Guarantee does not have any disappearing ink in it.

Hmmm Dane firearms dealer....this could be bad for my soft spot for Dane firearms.
I've got 2 Dane issued M1's, one still has the sight sticker in the stock.
From Schultz & Larsen I have 1 M52, 3 M69, 10 M70/M77's. Any spare parts still floating around over there? VAR M1 barrels, or S&L adjustable triggers for the 98's and M77's...stocks would be awesome as well.

Thanks for posting, glad the word is getting around. Now if we could let the Mexican Garand forum know about this shafting, Marstars name will be mud on the entire continent lol.
We got a dealer in Denmark spreading the word in Europe too.
Enjoy the thread, I'm sure it's far from over yet...
