T2 Garand - Part 1

I just checked the CMP grand forums - there is a lively thread on these guns and Master's business practices there also. Looks like the Americans are now following along with interest, more than just the few that have posted here.

Actually I think just the rear of the right bolt face was built up with weld and the left bolt lug was just ground completly out of contact with the receiver.

I took this picture of a rifle that I am sending back. You can clearly see huge gaps on the front and rear face of the left bolt lug

That is HORRENDOUS......Anyone thinking about keeping these rifles need to look carefully at this....!

You guys can call me selfish, but I am really choked about this. It makes us all Garand guys bad and now 200 recovers are destroyed with fake German proof test markings, because of greedy old man

When a 'reputable' dealer teams up with a 'professional' gunsmith and the results are this, it does make the rest of us hobbyist builders work look suspect and questionable. This is truly a disservice to the entire firearms community and should be never be forgotten, forgiven forever!

p.s. Still wondering why no statement from CGN forum masters on this.

I'm not your father, but talking politics on a gun forum is a great way to make people stop reading a thread. All we're missing is for someone to show up and explain why we should all vote for Canadian politician "fill name here".

I come here to avoid that crap. There's a forum area specifically for it - which I purposefully avoid as do most members, I suspect.

If there is no rule against politics in the milsurp forum - in this man's view, there should be,

I'm a political animal by nature. I don't suspect that is going to change anytime soon so why don't you do both of us a favour, and put me on your ignore list. That way you won't feel compelled to respond to my posts. Fair?

If you are going to post information relevant to the conversation at hand please feel free to do so. If you are going to make posts that have nothing to do with the serious nature of what has occured, and which distract from the important issues or even worse lead to this thread being locked then I must also ask you to please refrain from posting in this thread.

I don't need to add you to an ignore list. Add me if you want.

so far at least one of the deceived buyers had the courage to leave negative feedback for john1.

Way to go...

So far john1 got only 2 negative feedbacks, either the buyers don't have the balls to leave negative, or the Garand deal was not that bad after all.

Or there is likely another reason
It isn't bad enough that buyers are dealing with this saga but we have to read snide, baiting comments from the peanut gallery too? Give us some credit and a little slack...

I want my money back before I leave any feedback of any kind

Exactly.

Just as I waited for the rifle I ordered to be in my possession before commenting on provenance, so too will I wait for this issue to be concluded before I leave feedback.

Hmmm Dane firearms dealer....this could be bad for my soft spot for Dane firearms.
I've got 2 Dane issued M1's, one still has the sight sticker in the stock.
From Schultz & Larsen I have 1 M52, 3 M69, 10 M70/M77's. Any spare parts still floating around over there? VAR M1 barrels, or S&L adjustable triggers for the 98's and M77's...stocks would be awesome as well.

No S&L stuff at the moment - but lot's of Garand parts including the Danish sight stickers (unissued). Send me a PM if needed.

Whatever.
I am just telling you what I would have done in your place, just imagine if the guy gets 50 negatives in one shot, he will change his attitude.
You will get your money back one way or another for sure.

When I have this kind of issues I don't go and whine in public, I get the problems solved the easy way or the hard way, it doesn't depend on me.

That's all for today from the peanut gallery, good luck.
