T3 Aluminum Bolt Shroud

^ I keep looking at their price, and asking myself how it can possibly be justified. Maybe I'll find the answer as progress continues, but the simple tapered rear profile they use is a cost cutting measure, and they're still charging an arm and a leg. The problem is they are pricing the market, rather than pricing cost+%. IOW, they're charging what they think they can get away with, and if they're doing any kind of volume they're making a killing.

When/If I go ahead with this on a "for profit" basis, price will be determined on a cost basis with a reasonable margin of profit figured in.

Really? why?

He's probably noticing a delay in the project and speculating that it will follow the usual pattern of internet projects:

1. Big Promises!!!!111!!1
2. Small delay, but don't worry!
3. Bigger delay. Don't worry guys, I'm really gonna finish this!
4. Poster disappears for a while
5. Poster comments once in a unrelated thread, and then disappears again
6. Poster can't be contacted by PM
7. Poster revives thread 2 years later, stating that he's sorry he didn't finish the project, but it was only because his wife/girlfriend/dog died, and he's restarting the project!
8. Restart at 1.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see whether I can do any better than that.

Its justified because, at present, they own 100% of the market.

I paid around the same money for a Gre-Tan assembly for my M7, but it came with the shroud, firing pin and spring...

Hank,

What do you shoot? I wouldn't mind driving to B.C to outshoot you with Any !! cheap Tikka or Remington I have.

few people that dislike the T3 deny that they are accurate.
most of the 'anti-T3 crowd' are not really hating on the T3 itself, but rather the ridiculous amount of almost mythical hype surrounding what is basically a Savage class rifle.
its a modern, mass-produced, accurate bolt action rifle made with some concessions in materials and manufacturing steps. its not gods gift to firearms.
many people expect more than mere accuracy from their firearms and are unwilling to compromise on simple things like all-metal construction. apparently this is eating away at T3 owners as well, as evidenced by this thread :D

anyways, i dont want to derail this into a T3 argument. i hope your plastic bolt shroud replacement thingie works out for you guys - the fact that there are members in the community like Flick that are willing to design and produce something like this is pretty damned cool.

Remember the tuffer buffer guy. As long as your just developing the idea then it's ok but when you start advertising and selling thing in bulk. Then you need a dealer status.

That's how most of us feel about it here, and most of the mods as well. Judging interest is always critical to see if it's worth developing something for sale when it's a small run.

In any case, I do like CGN and their "dealer" slots. Too many sites I frequent have no way for a dealer to advertise beyond the basic EE (if one even exists), and as we know, it can get pretty cluttered in there.

Hank,

Reread your two previous posts, just because you don't write it down, doesn't mean I or anyone can't interpret what your trying to say, not my first time to the Rodeo.
I just threw Remington in there to see what you shoot, but obviously when you google "what you shoot" in it turns up Chicken or was that Tikka.

You must be good, you can interpret what I am saying whether I say it or not and can outshoot me with anything you own, even though you know absolutely nothing about me.
Real people have no need to brag from behind there keyboard. Have a nice day.:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Hank,

""Real People"" don't go posting on a thread that have absolutley nothing to OFFER to the thread , but watch it anyways to see if they can get a rise out of someone, you got one buddy.
Do you want a Tikka T-3 Aluminum bolt shroud?? didn't think so, move on then, so this thread can be used by people it was intended for.

Flick...I hope this project works out for you and you can make decent money at it. I would love to be able to discover a way that I could make some cash at my hobbies, right now all my hobbies CONSUME cash!

Not trying to get a rise out of anyone, I have owned briefly a T3 lite, sorry if you disagree but to me it just did not work. First day I tried it the bolt shroud bust. That is what it has to do with this thread. If you you want to shout about how much better you are that's cool.
