T3 Aluminum Bolt Shroud

Hank,

why didn't you just say that to start with?? and then your posts would have had alot to do with this thread, and informative aswell. :dancingbanana:

Flick...I hope this project works out for you and you can make decent money at it. I would love to be able to discover a way that I could make some cash at my hobbies, right now all my hobbies CONSUME cash!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm plugging away at it, and am continuing to make progress thanks to the generous help from some other members on this site - I met up with berzerk and redrab this morning at the Thorncliff gun show to take some measurements of their firing pins. They are very pleasant gents, and the data provided continues to confirm my suspicion that the firing pins are of consistent dimensions with relatively large clearances to the shroud.

Thanks again guys!

Oops, missed the last bump. :) I'm still getting gentle prods from people who are interested in the shrouds. Thanks for your patience. Life has been hectic for me. I just moved, and I'm not living 30 seconds from my mill anymore. It'll be moved to my new residence in the next month or so, but I am working with it when I can in the meantime - just not as convenient as it used to be. I've got a little rush work on the machine for the next couple weeks, and then things should slow down, so it's back to the shrouds.

I'm also trying to source a good vibratory tumbler for aluminum polishing. I've read good things about Thumler's Tumblers, but can't find a local source. Does anyone know where I can get one in Calgary?

Rock on,maybe one day you will grow up

:nest: mr hank the hunter you could have simply and politley made your opinion of tikka rifles known and then left everyone to there own opinions. you may feel you have the supperior opinion in rifles but you certainly dont know how to be civil so perhaps you need to grow up

I'm finally just spinning these right now. It was hard to find some lathe time (since I don't have one of those in my garage), but they're getting done as I type. The mill work will still have to wait at least another week, as the last batch of contract work led to more of the same.

I don't know guys plastic is lighter and doesn't corode!!!!!!
I hope your shroud works out as I can see alot of people don't like the plastic. I guess it is a personal opinion.

I can handle many "plastic" elements on guns.

But a critical safety element designed to shield me from high-pressure, high temperature, high velocity gases and particles in a critical failure situation being made of plastic makes my eyes water.

Yes I am aware there are probably many "critical" plastic pieces on various firearms, but please don't tell me. Ignorance is a bliss, untill someone looses an eye. :p lol.

My thread only fair I get Dibs on one:D, besides, my factory plastic bolt shroud is cracked.

Flick, PM me for pricing and availability.
