Just curious what other Tikka T3 owners are using as a load recipe? might give me a head start to finding the perfect load for my rifle.

**don't forget to let us know what calibre**

My T-3 is in 270 WSM. For the last couple of hunting seasons my load has been a 130 gr Barnes TSX over a load of Reloader 19, WW cases, and CCI 250primers. The muzzle velocity is about 3225 fps and quite accurate out of my rifle. It will group 3 shots into average group sizes of half an inch to an inch @ 100 yards, plus has been very effective on game.

Fav so far is 150gr Barnes TSX with 43.5gr of Varget, for a 308 (lightest, but most accurate for my gun). There too expensive for the range so the next work up will be 150gr SMK's.

T3 lite stainless .300WSM
63.8gr RL19, pushing a 165gr Sierra BTHP... clover leafs at 100 yards.
(* does the same thing with 180gr SBT from Sierra. Actaully any Sierra bullet I have fired down the barrel has been very tight over reloader 19)
I also have some reloader 22.. but havent tried it out yet.

T3 .270WSM
62.4gr RL 19 pushing a Sierra 150gr SBT 1/2" groups at 100 yards

T3 Laminated ( gorgious by the way) in .243
42.0 gr of RL 19 pushing 85gr Sierra BTHP 1/2" group at 100 yards

*** all using Winchester primers. (Magnum primers for the WSMs)

And to think I almost bought a Rem 700.... lol. Im over that now thank god.
heres the .300WSM.....

Should have bought a 700 then you could have afforded more than a Tasco on your T3:rolleyes:

Any T3 shooters loading for one in 338 Win Mag ?
Mine groups only fair to middlin with 210 TSX and Partitions, absolutely hates any 250 gr bullets....still trying to find that "magic" combination.
On the other hand, my T3 in 9.3 groups really well with almost every bullet I try in it.

Kevan,
My T-3 Hunter in .338 gave me problems as well. I tried 225g interbonds intially and got poor results, I tried this bullet with several different powders. I believe some of the problems with this bullet are due to the length and the T-3s short magazine, so your 250g bullet probably creates the same excessive freebore as my gun. Two things changed and my groups became excellent! I had my buddy bed the recoil lug and I went too a totally different load, which made the difference I don't know, as I never retried the original load. My current load is over max. going by my current manuals, I got the recipe from an article by Bob Hagel who has done alot of shooting with this cartridge.

I am shooting 210g Nosler Partions over 75g of IMR 4350 in WW brass with Fed 215 primers, the overall length of 3.310". Temp. was -10 C, avg. velocity was 2940 fps, 3 goups of 3 averaged .65". I also tried 76 and 77g, velocity read 2965, 3020 respectively with groups continually opening although still averaging 1" with 76g, but opening to 2" at 77g. I am very happy with the 75g load and will see how it works in warmer weather. These loads showed no visible signs of high pressure other than the opening up of group size, extraction was fine and brass and primers look good, I didn't mic any of the case bases. If you decide to try this load work up to it as no two guns are the same.

Good luck, Homesteader

2- T3 LS models in 270WSM shooting 140gr Accubonds (wife's and mine). Got the recipe from BigRedd in 2004 and one rifle shoots 70.0gr Retumbo, the other 71.0 gr. using Federal 215GM primers and Winchester brass for range/load developoment and Winchester Supreme nickel brass for hunting loads.

Both shoot well under 1/2" 5 shot groups. Both rifles have Leupold VX3 scopes (Silver 3.5-10x40 & 4.5-10x40) both twith the Boone & Crocket reticle.

I have a VX3 3.5-10x40BC in Gunmetal grey waiting for a rifle. This looks really sharp on the LS models.

My buddy's T3 LS 300WSM shoots 200gr. TSX very good also with RL-22
He also has a T3 Varmint SS in 22-250 and a Tactical in 223 but cant remember the loads. Very tight shooting groups also.
