Guys,
I am looking to get a new rifle likely in 308 win, never owned any of these.

The A7 and T3 Hunter(I prefer wood) seem virtually identical, price on the season ending special is the same $1125 inlcuding a burris FF11 scope which I don't really need. Thought on which guys prefer and why.

The other nice rifle is the M70 Featherweight, I hadn't looked at one for a while, did today seems nice. $730 plus mounts etc. I have questions about accuracy, anyone own one of the new Model 70's?

Model 70 hands down...too much plastic on the other 2...and the newer model 70's have beauty actions in them...love my .30-06 Mod. 70.

I have t3 lite in 308 love it .paid 825 last fall, I love it but if you are hell bent on having wood the m70 sound like a good deal. What Caliber are you thinking of getting it in?

I have a T3 lite in 308 as well and it shoots very accurately, has an awesome trigger and very smooth bolt. So if you want accuracy, at least in the 308 model the T3 is pretty darn good. The A7 is also accurate, and they say it is tested at the factory to shoot 5 shots MOA at 100 yards. That's plenty accurate for hunting. It has some slight improvements over the T3, such as a safety that allows the bolt to be opened, an open top receiver, different mag release, stainless lipped magazine. Also comes with scope bases.

I own a t3 lite in 30-06 will shoot 1/2" at 100 yards all day with factory ammo. This being said I am looking at geting the m70 for my next hunting rifle. The wood on the m70 is great and since i allready have the tikka in sainless synthetic for those days where the wood might get dammaged. Also if you dont go with the feather lite you get control round feed rather than push feed that comes in the tikka. Im not quite shure if the feather lite is control round feed it might be a push feed just like the tikka.

I can't comment on the T3 or the A7, but I also have a FW in 06. Controlled round feed works smooth and flawlessly so far, great accuracy for a hunting rifle, nice wood(although mine seemed to scar every time I bumped it) and I really like the trigger. Breaks clean, virtually no creep. I guess the only other thing I can say is after a few hundred rounds down range before opening day and only 1 fired during, there is meat in the freezer:)
KO

my FN m70 308 Win should arrive anyday....however it's not a Fwt, it's a SHOT show Stealth 26" HB

I'd go m70 Fwt...............the new model 70's are classy and shouldn't dissapoint

I have a Tikka Hunter Stainless 30-06 and love it, very accurate, I also have the Tikka Lite in 6.5x55 super accurate just dont like the synthetic stock, Actually I dont like any of the cheap plastic/synthetic stock out there. Recoil is much nicer on any wood stock.IMO Good Luck

Tikka has a better trigger, but i'd go for the M70 because it doesn't have all the plastic crap hanging on it. I really like the tikka, but on a wood stock that plastic shroud and magazine look like $hit, imo. Everyone needs at least one CRF rifle and i bet the price on M70s goes up and beyond the tikka in the not-so-distant future.

I have an A7 in 30-06 and love it, very light, great trigger, super smooth, fast action. Haven't shot it enough to see acccuracy yet. I prefer wood myself but last year with a new savage american classic I found myself pretecting the gun too much so decided to get an ugly plastic stocked stainless rifle and concetrate on the hunt without worrying about buddies rifle rubbing mine in the truck, etc.
The A7 fits me better too, which is the most important thing and what I will from now on use as the deciding factor. The savage didnt fit as well. If the A7 is as accurate as the savage was I have a winner.

All would be good choices.

If I wanted a 308 that would shoot right out of the box with no fiddling, I'd be tempted to buy the T3 or even a Marlin XS7. I had a T3 walnut for a time last yr and was pleased with it over the plastic job I owned in the past. One of those Kimbers would be nice in 308 as well if it was going to be a long term keeper.

Just traded back to the dealer a 7-08 South Carolina model 70. didn't shoot, chamber noticably off center when examining with a borescope. Wood to metal fit poor, prefer the older style trigger. Examined 2 other new S.C. featherweights, 30-06 and 243, also one supergrade 30-06 with the borescope, one of them also had the chamber off center to the bore. All had poor metal to wood fit around the receiver. After shooting all four, 2 shot good 2 didn't.

Ive always loved the Model 70 featherweights, they fit me perfect . I liked the weight but the ones Ive owned never grouped worth a turd.
Tikka's on the other hand are so boring, feel like a cheap mass produce gun but they are so accurate.

Cheers!!

Maybe some people have accuracy issues with their Mod. 70's , But my Mod. 70 extreme weather is a tack driver. Guess it's a crap shoot. I wouldn't hesitate buying another one though. Those blued walnut ones are ###y lookin too.
