T3 vs X-Bolt

Which rifle is more reliable and all around higher quality, the T3 or the X-Bolt? and in which caliber?

Im interested to hear what people have to say.

well im more interested in the rifle, not so much the cal. , thats more or less there to hear different opinions as i have been thinking about purchasing one or the other.
 
Someone would have to be paying me to own a Browning. :nest:

A Tikka, on the other hand... I would (and have) pay good money for one of those. Excellent little rifles.

I asked the question not long ago about x-bolt vs sako a7 as this is what I am trying to decide. I have 2 Tikka T3's one in .204 and one in .260 and they might be too "plasticy" for some people but boy they do shoot very well. I was leaning towards x-bolt cause I have this dang browning sling in my closet with no gun on it...anyway I don't know about the x-bolt but the Tikkas are nice.

I looked at both at wholesale sports and to me the x bolt felt like a much better rifle! the stock on the tikka is what tuned me off it just feels like a plastic bucket, but both are good rifles and both should shoot well!
 
I own a T3 Hunter and a X-bolt composite stalker. Which one is better??? It's a close call. If the T3 is too plasticy, I wouldn't know since mine has the wood stalk. It feeds super smooth, and is very accurate when I do my part. The X-bolt has the "Dura-touch" that I really like the feeling of. I think the metal on the X-bolt is more susceptible to rust, so I have to be more careful with it. Mine is in 7mmWSM, and it doesn't feed as smoothly as the T3, but that may be the short mag issue, not the rifle's fault. I can shoot the X-bolt more accurately, and more consistently. Man is that thing accurate! It also has a less picky appetite, and will be well under MOA with a wider range of bullets/ammo. If I were pressed, I'd have to say [between MY 2 rifles] the T3 Hunter is a nicer rifle, and the X-bolt is a better shooter. But the differences are very, very close. Have to be nit-picky to notice the differences.
 
If you are hand-loading and seat the bullets long, the Tikka usually won't take overlength cartridges in the mag, and hand-feeding them is tough because the port is small. That's the only knock I have on a T3.
 
I have owned an X-Bolt in 270 and a T3 in 7mm-08. I much prefer the X-Bolt as it is better balanced and carries better than the T3 and is veryacurate. I sold it and will replace it with another in 7-mm08 --- bought the 270 because I couldn't find one in 7mm.

I'd have to disagree with you John....
I much Sooner Perfer The T3 Over Any Browning That I've Owned(not to say Browning isnt quality either)!!
T3...Best Factory Trigger & Accuracy Money Can Buy($1000 range) IMHO

Well, I'm just going from personal experience/likes/dislikes. I found the t3 to be somewhat barrel heavy throwing the balance for carrying off --- I'm a still hunter and spend all day easeing thru the woods for deer and at the end of a morning the t3 was alot hevier than the X-Bolt. The Browning I had, outshot my former T3 and 2 friends as well. I shot basicly 1 hole groups (3) at 100.
Never had a hunting gun in my 47 years in the deer woods that would that. Don't know If I just plain lucked out but from the reviews I'v read this is not uncommon. That being said, I have been generally un-impressed with Browning accuracy in the past but I think they got this one right.

My complaint with Tikka rifles is their magazine. Its designed to short and does not allow one to play much with seating depths. I also do not like the fact you can't top load. The one size action fits all is pet peeve of mine as well but really doesnt effect accuracy at all.
For the price/accuracy the Tikka seems a better rifle for the money. Browning seem to be hit and miss in the accuracy department and thats where it all counts.

If you're comparing a T3 Lite to an X-Bolt, the T3 is actually several ounces lighter.

I've had 3 T3's and can't say I'd buy another. Between the two, I'd go with the X-bolt.

In a 7-08, its only 2 oz lighter. The X-bolt feels to be better balanced, though I've only fondled them and haven't carried one all day...
