I previously read that the stocks on both the C19 and Tikka Arctic were made in the same factory in Finland, with slight tweaks (color, sling swivels, etc) and the Rangers stocks were subsequently shipped to Colt Canada for rifle assembly.

I can’t confirm this “as fact” but would be interested if you or anyboby might know this to be false.

My Arctic has seen quite a bit of use but probably not to the extent of a Ranger’s rifle. I have hunted with mine for a few seasons but the bulk of its use has been pest control in north-eastern Alberta (often in the truck and sometimes in the scabbard on the sled). IMHO it’s a great platform and an easy rifle to shoot very well. I’ve had zero issues with anything, including the stock, so far. However, I’m curious if anybody who owns the Arctic has seen their stock delaminating, firsthand.

Given the gubberment paid $6100 each for the Colt version and the rifles are falling apart... I'd stick with the Sako/Tikka version.

Colt Canada exists only to make stuff for military and law enforcement contracts.

Yes, but try and find one. Stoeger has zero and retailers all have them on back order from Stoeger.

Tikka took the 10 round mag and spot welded a u shaped plate inside, so - will that satisfy the libs when they say all mags must be 5 - I doubt it.

No because trg-22 mags fit no problem, the only hindrance is cost
 
I ordered a five round mag from Stoeger hoping it would be a lower profile mag. To my disappointment, it is exactly the same profile as a 10 rounder. It’s basically a pinned 10 rounder…and a pointless expenditure.

As M1008 pointed out, the stamped metal of the CTR/Arctic mags are identical to the Sako TRG-22 mag. The Tikka mag has some additional plastic/rubber cladding so it won’t fit the TRG (without mods to the cladding). However, the more expensive TRG-22 mags work fine in the Tikka.

I thought the 10 round CTR/Arctic/Ace mags were stupidly expensive at $220

That's insane for the TRG-22 mag at $325 CAD
 
The Canadian Forces is also ordering synthetic stocks for other C-19s but Sadiku stated that is a separate initiative which has nothing to do with the Ranger rifle delamination problems. The rifles equipped with the synthetic stocks are for use by regular force military members on firing ranges, at airfields and on the Royal Canadian Navy’s Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships.

Tikka should sell a synthetic stock gun with the arctic sights, regular magazines and bottom metal

I bet these guns see a lot of freeze/thaw. Taking on humidity indoors and freezing. Probably have a bit of a rough service life too. I wonder if wood stock was a criteria for the selection?

Just don't let it get wet or cold.

Stocks on new Canadian Ranger C-19 rifles are cracking and need to be replaced. It will take three years and an estimated $10 million to replace the stocks, which have seen cracks because they can't withstand excessive moisture.
