Hi all. Would like to hear from folks that own and have ran the above rifle through its paces. I have decided on the caliber I want, so it would be great if info focused more on the rifle function and capabilities. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Last week I bought one in .308win to be this year's project gun to wean me off my shotgun and hopefully spend less time at the clay range. I'll hunt with it this fall, and have been planing my summer range time to practice up my practical field position shooting skills. For glass I landed on a Swarovski z8i 1.7-13x42.

I spent the week trying out different glass and tweaking the rifle for fit, not just for prone position shooting, but for sitting, kneeling, and yes even standing. I got out to fire it for the first time yesterday evening and came away from the experience with a pretty big smile on my face.

Off the bipod, using crappy cannon-fodder ammo I'd reloaded quickly (and somewhat carelessly) to fireform cases, the rifle shot 0.75 MOA with a couple groups less than 0.5 MOA. I am certain with careful, rifle-tuned handloading that improvements could easily be had however based on my purpose I'm not sure I'll pursue further load development; rather I'll spend my range time this summer understanding trajectory then practice from standing, kneeling, and sitting.

While heafty, the rifle has a good balance to it and with all its adjustment I was able to get it to fit very well such that I can easily hold 3 MOA from both kneeling/sitting & 6 MOA from standing. I had removed the muzzle brake, both for weight reduction/balance and noise comfort, so I can't comment in how effective it is at recoil reduction. I can say that without the brake the rifle is very comfortable to shoot, and practice sessions of a couple hundred rounds will not be difficult from the perspective of recoil, but perhaps from the perspective of shooting a rifle that's a bit heavier than I am currently used to.

The operating mechanics of the rifle are awesome. The trigger has a slight amount of take up which you can easily feel, then it breaks lightly and like a glass rod snapping. The bolt throw is easy and silky smooth, even for a lefty like me who has to come across the rifle when sitting and standing. Feeding from the magazine was both effortless and flawless; it felt nice to work the action of the gun between shots. The stock has enough adjustability in it that getting it to fit was easy, and it has some nice features for enhanced shooting & carrying ergonomics too. While the folding mechanism is rock-solid when deployed integrated shooting position, when locked in the folded position it has some movement and rattles a bit. Sling attachment is totally secure, and with the fancy for end slots there were lots of options for position of the front sling attachment that helped a lot in tweaking the sling for use as a tool to help hold position.

All in all, I'm pretty excited about the rifle and am enthusiasticallly looking forward to my next range session where I hope to get my trajectory squared away out to 500 meters and then to get to work on honing my field position shooting. In the meantime I'll be doing lots of basement dryfire practice!

Cheers,

Brobee

Check around as there is a $300.00 price spread across dealers just here on CGN .

Hey Brobee, that's awesome to hear. That's for the review. I want a other .308 and these seem like really slick rifles.

Did it just come with the one magazine? Extras are $250 aren't they?

It price at 1899 USD in the state come with 2 mag, and uppon registered on the web, you will get another magazine with a total of 3 mag , in Canada is 2700 with only 1 mag, my Buddy call stoeger Canada and the reason was that to make it more economic, but do that math it just doesn't add up.

I love mine though I haven't had a chance to test at greater than 50 yds . Sucks with only coming with one magazine. When in stock Al's has the best price. Well at least that's where I got mine from. Settled for Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR II 3.5-21x50 with that 25% sale.

If you want to get it, don't wait, they already sold the 6.5Creedmoor, so it won't last, there alot of people eyeing at that one.

Thanks folks for great feedback. I have picked the rifle up. I have a Leupold 4.5-14 x 50 mark 4 that will be mounted. Once I develope a load, I'll drop a review. Thanks again.

I just gave a try at one this afternoon. factory amo by buddy had wasnt great, but I had some left amo I have tuned for my own 308. load being very light, I gave them a try.

groups were around 3/8-1/2 moa at 200 yards

load was N150,185 lapua scenar and CCI BR2 in fc brass

realy smooth action and I like the cheekrest deseing eazy to just mold ont that fits better if needed.

the only down side I found is the full lenght rail which I find absolutely useless when not using a night device and only bring the scope higher

Picked one up in 260REM from Rangeview Sports. Its a very well built rifle, 1/2 moa is very doable with handloads. Only complaints would be the mag needs tweaking to fit tight and the full length rail is a PIA for mounting optics(requires extra high rings or a unimount of some type if you want some cant)

If you follow CGN threads, all new cool rifles shoot half a minute with such a consistency that it makes "my rifle shoots..." challenges kinda silly. But then I go to check a progress on those and still hardly anyone submits a successful target.

It has to be something wrong with the spirit of competition I guess )

The more money people spend the better the rifle itself shoots. Right? I d like to see a target or a video on how they constantly get that half Moa.

Found you one. The Europeans have already been playing with these, we are late to the party. Reports are they shoot well.

But then how would people be able to call you out without looking foolish?:d

I really like the idea of this rifle. I like the Tikka brand, short bolt throw, folding stock, the adjustability, ten round capacity, the options for caliber and barrel length.
